they're going to draft a lineman I'm almost certain. this trade solidifies it for me. I just don't see them going to FA to get another tackle. and then you'll get your compensatory pick.

the best thing the giants can do is draft an edge guy in round 1. a Right Tackle in round 2. and trade for josh rosen who we'd all have lost our shit over if we got both saquon and rosen last year.

With Vernon being dealt, it just about confirms to me that they are going for a defensive lineman at #6. Dealing for Josh Rosen isn't out of the cards, but I think it's unlikely. The Giants may actually be doing the smart thing and are waiting for next year's very strong QB class.

That's the only way they can justify drafting a non-QB, frankly.
I'm not sure I like anyone enough this year to justify drafting at #6 overall except for Kyler Murray, who I think Arizona is taking #1 overall. Lock and Haskins do nothing for me.

Good to see you again around here, by the way.

oh absolutely. they have to come away with Haskins Rosen or Lock. I still think Rosen is the best of the 3. but it should be a no brainer honestly I don't see why it wouldn't be. this trade of Vernon solidifies it for me.

Could draft Jawaan Taylor and complete the line then trade for Rosen.

Yeah there’s no QB worth taking this year. The problem is with their schedule this coming season does anyone see them going 3-13 or 4-12? I sure don’t. They may very be a borderline playoff team or at least 8-8. Therefore if the QB doesn’t come in April it’s going to have to come via a trade or somehow trading up into the top 5 in the 2020 draft

How often does that happen? Team drafts a QB in the top 10 and then looks immediately ready to move on by drafting another one in the top 10 the following year?*

*Me assuming Cardinals take Murray

What would the Giants do with Eli in that scenario? I can’t imagine Rosen sitting for a year after playing essentially a full season, and that’s what Gettleman apparently wants.

Not sure, let them battle it out? Regardless of Rosen starting for the Cards, he clearly wasn’t ready. Let Eli go for 2020 and have the cap space to improve the defence next season.

It would be awful but I guess cutting their losses and getting at least a 2nd rounder for a guy you don’t think is as good as Murray.

Could you imagine how the media would massacre OBJ if he behaved like Antonio Brown? Talk about an actual cancer.

He’s truly f***ing pathetic. The fact that people go so hard after OBJ and let this clown slither on by just blows my mind.

I’m guessing the only other real suitor at this point is Oakland. So, AB’s gonna have to suck it up or f***ing retire.

Simply untenable, unfortunately. This is what they get for not taking one last year. Are you really comfortable starting a rookie QB at 2020 or wheeling out the corpse of Eli Manning again? This is the year to take a QB or trade for Rosen, frankly.

I'm not around nearly as much, so don't welcome me back too hard! ;)

Unfortunately I think that the Giants pigeonholed themselves into trying to contend within the next couple of years so as to not waste Saquon's best years. I like Barkley but that was an arrogant, self-indulgent pick from the get go.

I'd much rather burn a 2nd rounder on dealing for Rosen and gambling on him than take any QB besides Kyler at #6. Would rather take a pass rusher in that slot.

The smart move for the Giants would be to trade a day 2 pick or later for Rosen and then take one of the elite pass rushers at 6.

Or they could trade their 2nd for Dee Ford and take Haskins.

Rosen to me looked better than Darnold. The numbers may not have suggested it but I just wasn’t impressed at all with Darnold. It’s similar to Luck in that I just never understood the hype. Obviously Luck has been hurt and had crappy teams around him but he still to me doesn’t look like he’s an elite QB. I will wait to pass judgement on Darnold and Rosen but I don’t think either guy will be end up being remarkable at this time.

What are we trading for Josh Rosen if we still have our top 2 picks?

An arrogant, self-indulgent pick? Jesus, get a hold of yourself. He was the rookie of the year and will be one of the greatest backs of all time. And we are still in a good position to pick a well-regarded QB or trade for one. Absolutely ridiculous take. Some might say arrogant and self-indulgent.
