So...if the Kings keep screwing up their next 15 years by winning and pass NJ and DET...and end up with the #7 overall pick and select Matthew Boldy...I guarantee you will see this after the selection::: #notsoldyonboldy

We are definitely not catching Ottawa. As long as we don’t pass the Wings we should at least get the number 5 or 6 spot. The top 3 spots are luck of the draw anyways.

How are they screwing up their next 15 years? I don't mind them winning now at this point and like it. Given how the lottery works at worst we move 1-2 spots if we were to win out, which means 5-7 where there is no difference. 3-10 is nearly identical and can be argued anyway. 5-7 you're guaranteed one of Dach, Cozens, Turcotte, Byram, Podkolzin, or Zegras. I've argued for Turcotte/Byram and have them with Dach in a slight tier above the rest yet seems a few here prefer Cozens to Dach, which baffles me personally. For any argument against Podkolzin he is the universally ranked #3 prospect by most all major scouting services.

It'd be nice to have our choice yet honestly may be nicer just being able to take who drops and not have to read a bunch of upset posts about how we took X at #3 instead of Y who went 4, 5, 6, or 7.

Got home and turned on Det - Bos and Bos was up 3-2. Within a minute, Mantha scores and it's 3-3. Det scores 2 more and wins. 3-0 DET in my time watching.
So I now have to watch NJ tomorrow and keep the winning ways going...and should NOT watch the King - Calgary game.

Det with 72 and now 5 ahead of the Kings now. If Kings go 2-2 last 4 or worse, no better than 29th finish. Sabres really want in on the action and
1-8-1 in last 10 and at 72 pts as well.

Sabres are the freakin Oilers east!!! What the heck happened to them. Remember when they had the best record in the league and everyone was saying they have turned the tide. Pssshhh My A**!!!

Buffalo's season reminded me of the Kings the year DT and AM were fired. Just hard to win in the NHL when you have goaltending that bad.

Let's send Quick to Buffalo for San Jose 1st pick (held by Buffalo) and defensive prospect Mattias Samuelsson.

That would be very astute...if they are set on Lafreniere. Maybe the Kings should ice Quick, Carter, Phaneuf, Lewis, and Toffoli one more year. Give them a better shot at Lafreniere,
or Quinton Byfield.

Devils remaining schedule: NYR, @ Carolina, @ Florida
Kings remaining schedule: Calgary, @ Arizona, @ Anaheim, Vegas

sadly i see the kings winning against sucks and NJ not winning again this year ..which means 3OA and possibly sliding back to 7OA

NJ is weird. They took a good STL to OT and lost. I agree though that the odds are more likely that we at least win a game and they don't.

I think that the Ducks are going to take the game in ANA. They are due to beat us. I have hard time believing that they will go 0-4 against us and it's their last game of the season.

From the Lakingsinsider article today::::

>>>>>General Manager Rob Blake, Assistant General Manager Mike Futa and Director of Amateur Scouting Mark Yannetti took in Game 3 of the first round series between Calgary and Lethbridge at the Scotiabank Saddledome last Tuesday. Dylan Cozens, NHL Central Scouting’s third-ranked North American skater in midterm rankings, scored twice in the 5-3 loss<<<<<

Good to see all 3 of them taking in a game together. Hope they are doing this with several top tier talent prospects. Not essential, of course.

Makes sense to scout some guys who are in the CHL playoffs right now. The U18 tournament starts in a few weeks, so certain prospects might not be going to Sweden.

Plus the Kings were at Calgary/Edmonton on Monday/Tuesday of last week. Makes sense for Blake to watch Cozens if he was already in Calgary.

Probably a little easier this year with the higher end CHL prospects being in the WHL. Realistically the Kings probably know they should cover their bases with Bowen Byram (Vancouver), Cozens (Lethbridge), and Kirby Dach (Saskatoon) in case they drop a spot or two. And then they'll get a good look at the USNTDP guys in a couple weeks.

My bet is that if the Kings are at #3 they will take Cozens because he can play both C and W depending on the need. If they pick lower and he is gone then it could be interesting. It would seem that it could be either Dach or Turcotte and then Byram. Byram could jump into the mix after Cozens depending on the team that is drafting at that spot though. I just think that if one of the elite Forwards is there, that the Kings will go that direction rather than take a Dman.

I definitely see why the Kings would pick Cozens. Size, speed, and skill, while not a complete softy.

I would also instinctively be disappointed if he was their choice at 3, mostly because I've been impressed with him the least of the options. But I could also be wrong.

I enjoy a good prospect discussion. Who would be your choices over Cozens and what skills to they possess that have them rated higher on your board?

I just think Cozens has a lower ceiling. He's playing on a very good team, so the scoring is a bit skewed.

He's the second leading scorer on his team, but his intensity is off-and-on.

Kirby Dach has a higher skillset, in my opinion. Dach plays a lot like Kopitar, who isn't physically dominant but uses his size to protect and move the puck.

Peyton Krebs is a high octane, high intensity player who is used in all situations. He has fewer points than Dach or Cozens, but Krebs led the worst team in the league in scoring. He leads the second leading scorer on his team by 16 points. I've seen comparisons to Brayden Point.

Alex Turcotte is scoring high in the U-18 team for Team USA. He's also one of the top defensive forwards. With his two-way ability and talent, I liken him to Jonathan Toews. His biggest drawback is he missed a chunk of the season due to injury. He is 2nd on pts/game after Jack Hughes, all while playing regularly on the 2nd line.

Bowen Byram is an all-purpose defenseman. He doesn't have a particular skill, but he's very likely the best defenseman of the draft.

I've posted it a few times, but I would be okay with any of Dach, Turcotte, Krebs, Byram. I'd even be okay with Cozens, but I just don't have the same enthusiasm for him.

Someone a little while ago posted that the Kings were really high on Hughes. Possible from the Sttenifvthe Union address? Please correct me if I am wrong or imagining things.

If that is the case and we land 3 to 5 in the lottery. Would our top five pick plus our second 1st be enough to secure 1st overall if our second first is a top 20?
