Do you have some new info?
I read that 5 players are joining from Tilburg: Ryan Collier, Reno de Hondt, Danny Stempher, Jordy Verkiel and Giovanni Vogelaar.
Brainfart on my part, for a moment I thought you can only register 20 players while you can register 20 skaters + 2 goalies of course. So for a moment, I thought they only have 3 spots left.

It's kind of hard to respect them after paying so many random foreigners to accept the Belarusian citizenship and suit up for their country. It's a bit of a joke really. Ditto for Kazakhstan.

It's like North Korea building fake skyscrapers or something.

Wouldn't it be great if Slovenia and Hungary advanced.
That would be the dream.

It's also interesting that of all the young defensemen they could have taken they chose Solovyov. I don't know if that's a statement about their confidence in Yeryomenko or what.

a few words about slovenia.

anze kopitar is back and will play. but a lot of established and damn good players are missing.

the main question is how will the substitutes perform. playing with kopitar might have a great boost for them. jan drozg is the guy to watch & he might add some extra value.

the coach - ivo jan - was a damn good player in his best days. if he can translate his own experiences from such tournaments this team can go deep.

overall it's an old team with a lot of experience. i expect a lot of tight matches with not many goals, defense will be a huge priority. and kopitar should make a difference in those tight games.

It will really come down to details with Belarus. I wouldn't even say their roster is better than Hungary's. Hungary might even have an edge at F, albeit they are a bit lacking on D. Slovenia is a wild card as always and they can definitely surprise this piss-poor Belarus roster. So I'd say between places 2 and 4 anything can happen.

Hell, even Korea might be better than we tend to think - those are basically same players that won the promotion 2 years ago minus Swift - I would just like them to be bad for Lithuania's sake.

Also, what happened to Dmitri Buinitsky and and Ivan Drozdov? I know at the end of the season Buinitsky was hurt but I figured it was minor.

Doubt Kopitar will be enough to win the promotion over Kazakhstan and Belarus, but we'll see. What concerns me, is how will Slovenia handle long term problems. Such as, Muršak leaving the NT and Tičar, Jeglič, Sabolič not getting any younger. Time for new generation EBEL

Well Hungary might win "best wishful look at the ref" competition but when it comes to hockey, they look pretty brutal. I'd say they are generally outmuscled in this game by Korea.

Dalton is still a good goalie, too.

I only saw the 1st period and the Hungarians were pretty dominant. They were in full control for a good stretch there.

So to see a 1-5 score right now is a bit of a head-scratcher.

Sounds like a brutal game for the Hungarian goalie or there must have been a bunch of giveaways

I saw only last 25-30 minutes or so and Hungary really didn't do anything 5 on 5 other than a bunch of giveaways. 4th goal was 3 on 0, before that Korean guy had a clear-cut breakaway.. The 5th goal maybe was a bit weak by the goalie but at that point, it didn't really matter. Korea just managed the puck better, were committed to defense, didn't do much 5 on 5 but didn't have to since Hungary was nice enough to shoot themselves in the leg repeatedly.

Hungarian PP looked pretty good.

All in all, I don't care for Hungary much but to us, the outlook is grim. Korea definitely isn't the team which gets relegated.

Well, it's the Belarusian Pahonia. Lithuanians adopted it as well. Lithuania and Belarus was the same country during the Middle Ages.
The Pahonia (Belarusian: Паго́ня, transliteration: Pahonia, Belarusian pronunciation: [paˈɣonʲa]; Polish: Pogoń, - literally: "Pursue" Lithuanian: Vytis - literally "knight") is the historical coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a variation of which is being used as a current coat of arms of Lithuania.

Lithuanians adopted the coat of arms of Grand Duchy of Lithuania from Belarus. Now that's an interesting twist on the matter.

Regarding the game, I mean the Netherlands scored first as well in yesterday's 1-8 loss, so.. going up 2-0 really doesn't mean all that much in our situation. It's really tough to watch games where you know you kinda need points from all and any of them but at the same time, you know you can't realistically expect to get them.

No, the coat of arms of Lithuanian-Polish commonwealth was literally Lithuanian and Polish coat of arms combined 50/50:

I mean I get Belarus sees it as their symbol as well because their history as a country is tied to either us or USSR, basically. And they made a logical choice to gradually move away from Soviet identity. It's just silly to say Lithuania adopted something from them rather than the other way around. But at the same time, history is a funny game and if you agree on the lie like Napoleon said, if you repeat it long and hard enough somebody is bound to believe. That's what Belarus want to happen and that's what they teach in schools.

Also, I think we can all agree it looks way better than this tragic slightly modified USSR coat of arms they have been sporting ever since:
