He's 27 -years old. He's what he's and it won't improve, rather downgrade. If you can't find your game in 60GP you don't find it training camp. Scandella just came in to team and right away first games he's was mesh in and perfect fit.

Next season will be 6.5mill.$ x 7-years. That will be terrible. Over half of decade. Even 4.833mill.$ is too much imo what Faulk brings in the table and it doesn't help he is misused.
I wouldn't say he can't get better....look at Perron for instance. As for the rest I agree. I don't see how anyone can say he needs a full training camp to full adjust when we're a month away from the end of the season......its not like he had an injury that sidelined him well into the season. It's just throwing darts at a board, hoping hell magically flip some switch.

If "he is who he is" at 27, wouldn't that be a guy who has averaged 35.76 points per 82 games over his career? I don't think a full camp magically flips a switch, but it is also disingenuous to say a guy 'is who he is at 27' but only examine 67 of his 626 career games played. If all 27 year olds "are who they are" then the one really bad season out of the last 7 logically seems like an outlier rather than a significant change in the player.

What he is is a darn good player who took time to adjust to new team and new role. He's played quite well for most of 2nd half of season. Not worried about him at all.

Well thank God Faulk has been healthy a full season so it hasnt hurt his down year.

With his clapper he should have scored without playing powerplay, but no.

Yes lets hope this was just growing pains and those are gone and training camp will help him to find his game, 'Cus he gets paid like top4 dmen.

If I’m not mistaken, I think we have now been outscored 16-0 this year with our goalie pulled. At what point do you either give that up or start doing some heavy duty 6-on-5 work in practice. We just suck at it, but it’s not surprising given that it is typically our first PP unit out there and they are awful moving the puck 5-on-4.

Mook pulled a @Robb_K and posted this in the thread about the affiliation agreement with Springfield. I posted it here because I think it is a great point worthy of discussion.

Pang touched on this during the NJ game: the analytics say that teams in general should pull the goalie with 2+ minutes left, but he doesn't think the Blues should keep doing that. I agree completely. This team is not better off pulling the goalie early. I don't think we should just stop pulling the goalie entirely, but we should stop doing it with so much time left. Try to score 5 on 5 until the clock gets under 1 minute, then make a decision on pulling the goalie. I'm tired of being 100% confident that we are going to lose a game when we pull the goalie with 2+ minutes left.

Has anyone heard about Jordan Kyrou being hurt or sick the last few games? It appears he has been healthy scratched, but I don't want to jump to conclusions. We just seem to be a more dangerous team with him in the lineup even if the W-L is the same. Here is the WOWY from the last five games of him in and out of the line up.

With Kyrou: 4-1-0, 20 GF, 11 GA
Without Kyrou: 4-1-0, 11 GF, 6 GA

Pietro will get a statue of him lifting a cup. He's the first Blue in history to touch it, is one of the best if not the best Blues defenseman in history, and if he signs this extension will likely be one of if not the longest tenured Blue in history. There is no way he doesn't get a statue and have his number retired. And I'm sure they'll put up another statue or something inside commemorating everyone who was apart of the cup run.
Thought the exact same thing for Pujols before he left...

Brouwer on waivers.

Looks like Tarasenko returning is close...
I thought there was room to keep Brouwer even with Tarasenko. I find the way LTIR cap works pretty confusing. Maybe this means they’ll keep De La Rose instead.

I really thought Brouwer would be a spare forward through the post-season. I wonder if he’ll report to the AHL for the rest of the season, then come back. If I were him, I would do that to get one last chance to be in the playoffs. With the grind of injuries, there is a chance he’d play in games, but you bender know. However, you have to think you’re retiring after this either way. It would be more fun and satisfying to be part of the group. I think of Thorburn getting the Cup 4th in line last year. He was respected and loved by his teammates, even though he only played a couple NHL shifts all year.

Twelve games to go in the season and the Blues are still first in the West by the slimmest of margins. And it’s always worth noting that these Blues have played 26 more games in the last year than half the league. If MacKinnon is out for an indefinite amount of time that really sucks for the Avalanche (but good for the Blues!). This is as good a time as any to do a player review and identify which need to rest if we can just open up, say, a 5-point gap in next week in the standings.

Rest up and Recharge List: O’Reilly, Perron, Bozak, Schenn, Pietrangelo, Steen, Sanford, Sundqvist, Thomas, and Dunn.

The first four soon need, I think, two consecutive games off (or Both sides of a three-game stretch) to just soak in a tub and listen to their bodies. With Schenn, he just plays a heavy game that takes its toll. I have no doubt with a little rest they’ll all show up huge for the playoffs. The next three, I’d give two games off in remainder of season — they don’t look battered, but could use a day to get their playoff legs back and their minds sharpened. The last three don’t need an off-day, but should get one — when they’re at their best (and they’ll need to be in the Playoffs), the team as a whole is a more consistent top-to-bottom threat and opponents have more difficulty matching up.

Bite the Snake That’s Bit ‘Ya List: Schwartz (removed — Jaden thanks you, bleedblue!), Blais, MacEachern, Tarasenko, Gunnarson, and Faulk.

Whether truly snakebitten (Faulk), returning to form from injury (Blais & Tarasenko), or just lacking consistent ice time (MacEachern & Gunnarson), I’d like to see these players use the last 12 games to simplify their games, work on the small (but no less important!) things like positioning, wall-work, through-shots and defensive awareness, focusing on one or two things per game and in practice.

Keep on Keepin’ On List: Schwartz (added), Parayko, Bortuzzo, Scandella, Barbashev, de la Rose, Binnington, and Allen.

These players all appear to be playing their best game right now. I want them in for the rest of the games (for goalies, say, an 8/4 or 9/3 split) continuing to build confidence in their individual game.

Last and Maybe Least List: Kyrou and Brouwer.

As much as it hurts some to hear, Kyrou is looking like a definite odd-man out for the initial playoff roster. If we give rest to the players above, he’ll get his ice time here in the regular season and, if called upon, will be ready for the Playoffs when (not if, unfortunately) a two-game injury or one-game suspension occurs. Kyrou fits in best against a block-defense opponent, where he can zip by to retrieve a dump-in or open up space. For Brouwer (on waivers again), well, we likely will not see him again, actually, unless we open up a wide lead going into the final week, and go into ultra-rest mode.

^ Ha, old habits die hard...I see Schwartz, I think snakebit :) . Let’s move him to the Keep On Keepin’ On List then...and work an off day in for tub time. Heres’s to another postseason with multiple Hatties for #17! :)

If 2006 had been the franchise's first World Series title, there is absolutely no doubt that Pujols would eventually get a statue outside Busch. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting a statue in St. Louis. Did you see the reaction for his return to Busch this past season? I came to St. Louis to go to those games. Loudest standing ovation I've heard in Busch stadium and the place went nuts when he hit a home run. Time heals most wounds and the anti-Pujols crowd is pretty darn small already. 5-10 more years and the vast majority of fans would love a statue of him.

Very exciting news. Clearing cap space for Tarasenko is really the only reason to waive Brouwer. This doesn't mean that a return is imminent, but it suggests he could be ready very soon. It would be fantastic to get him 10 or so games to shake off the rust.
