Continuing a discussion from the Flyers GDT, I think it might be time to switch up the PP Units. Here's my idea:

Run a 1-3-1 with Thomas below the goal line, Bozak and Schwartz on the L and R half walls, Schenn net front and Faulk at the point.

For the other unit, run a more traditional 3 F, 2 point approach with Petro and Dunn at the L and R points with Perron-ROR-Steen up front. When Kyrou draws back in, he could replace Steen to add some speed and snipe.

Most of all, I'd stop giving the same unit the first crack at the PP. The way it is now, if that 1st unit doesn't score right of the faceoff they probably don't score at all, and by the time the second unit gets set up the PP is almost over.

So I caught some of the weekly radio show tonight driving home and Vitale was talking about Sunny relating a story about how he, Robert Thomas and Tyler Bozak were logged into Call of Duty waiting on ROR to put his kid to bed.

I found this to be hilariously funny and at the same time an endearing little nugget pulling the curtain back a bit on some of the guys spending time hanging out together outside the rink.

Huge age spread on those guys too. That is the youngest and third oldest guy on the active roster. So its not like the kids all hang out while the old men do their own thing. 33, 28, 25, and 20 years old.

Hearing that some of the Blues are gamers is just simply heartwarming. They were even cool enough to wait for Ryan to put his kid to bed.

I love this team. :yo:

Sunny did a segment on the Late Shift where he talks about it. Sounds like there’s several guys from the team that play COD every night. Parayko, Barbashev and Perron I think are also involved in it in addition to the guys already mentioned above.

Heck, Sundqvist said even his girlfriend plays and she’s better than 3 of them. He said Barbashev, Parayko and Bozak are bad. And Robert Thomas is the best because he plays literally all day long.

Robert Thomas is a genius. Sunny's gf being the best made me "aww" harder than I care to admit.

Also, daily. ducking. reminder:

I thought that too, dunno though. It was good confirmation that Vladi has a 90+mph wrister

While I wouldn't necessarily trust a number that a commercial throws out, I recall Vladi telling a story in one of his first couple of years about how he broke a goalies hand/finger in practice so he doesn't go full out in practice anymore. That alone told that he had some serious heat with the wrister.

Remember that interview with Keith Tkachuk where he was lamenting the fact that young guys don’t go out and get hammered every night, but instead play video games? That was such a hilariously stupid take. Nobody stumbles on some cocaine while playing Search and Destroy with the boys. Don’t have to fight through a hangover the next day either.

I feel like his take on that has changed since Robby moved in lol. All he does is game when he’s not playing hockey.

I remember the interview, it was great. But I agree with you that you probably won't have a kick ass time playing video games all night. Might end up with a sore wrist or a blister though.

Keith Tkachuk was/is the man, don't ever doubt that. But pretty sure he was mostly joking around, not meant to be taken as seriously as you have taken it.

I suppose it's time to see if Jake Allen can win a competition for number one goalie.

Binnington is starting to falter a bit and Jake deserves a shot to push him for more starts.

And this right here wins most asinine post of the season so far.

Buddy, Binnington just won us the first Cup in history. He had a couple games that weren’t great, as any goalie does.

Don’t try to create a goalie controversy. Allen lost his starting job 3 times and is doing fine as a backup. We have our goalie now. It’s not that deep.

If Allen is the starter going into the playoffs, we are f***ed. I like the dude, and he has the ability to steal a series, but Binny oozes confidence. He sets the tone for everyone else.
