No GDT from the Vegas game? I guess we can’t even half-ass it these days.

Having a rough three-game road trip in January not the end of the world. But the Vegas game might be an illustration of a problem - the goals scored against from scrambles in front of the net showed a lack of toughness. This team is going to miss Maroon and Edmundson down the line and it could come back to haunt them. Neither of them was replaced.

I agree with the issue but not being Eddy and Maroon. Maroon couldn't defend shit and Eddy was prone to losing coverage. I just dont think the Blues were as determined to win as Vegas. Blues will be dealing with most teams A game. Vegas was getting embarrassed in their own barn. Blues just didnt deal with the pushback. As much flak as I've gave Faulk....he's a very strong 1 on 1 defender. Just a bad game in the middle of the season.

If anything. The Blues still need a top 6 winger. I'm not willing to rely on what we have. Defense should not be an issue

He ended last year hurt and had surgery. Wasn’t 100% for camp so took him while to get going.
He's also getting more confident on holding onto the puck. Berube has talked about it before, that he talks to Thomas about using his skill more in this because he can do it better than many others and he can make plays out of nothing because of it.

He's looked phenomenal at times. A legit elite skill level. The points dont reflect it yet, but being patient and letting him do his thing and figure it out will pay in dividends down the road. Also, he needs a much better winger then Bozak. I get things are what they are, but I still see it holding Thomas back. For every rediculous set up Bozak buries, he misses several

He'll be full-time top 6 soon enough, if that already isn't the plan with the Vegas game.

If anything that game showed how important Colton Parayko is to the success of this team. Replacing his 25 minutes simply cannot be done without significant drop-off. Who thinks Vegas scores 5 times with him galloping the puck out of his own end all night while blanketing the Knights top scorers?

Yeah, our defensive core is still incredibly dependent on both Pietrangelo and Parayko being healthy.

OK, it is officially open season on Berube. I don't care what he did last season or the start of this, the lineup above is now officially ridiculous.

There is absolutely no way Sanford should be anywhere near the game group the way he played on Saturday. But instead of stapling his sorry ass to a press box chair, HE GETS A f***ING PROMOTION!!!!

Steen has been a corpse of his former self for weeks while playing up in the line up, gets reunited with Barby and Sunny on Saturday and actually has a halfway decent game (some up, some down) and immediately gets moved back on a line with Thomas and Bozak, a line he has almost single-handedly neutered for the last few games?

WHY, CRAIG?!?

WHY?!? WHY?!? WHY?!? WHY?!? WHY?!?

Pay more attention to minutes played after the games than to practice lines.

Agreed. On the bright side, Parayko is back and De LA Rose is in the press box where he belongs. Also I guess Blais is skating if he is listed on the lines; although, that probably means Kyrou is close to be sent back down as opposed to Brouwer.

I dunno. He seems to be playing pairs and trying to fill in the gaps with the remaining parts the best he can. Thomas & Bozak work well together, as do Sunny & Barbs; so stapling Sanford to the ROR-Perron duo seems like the best place to minimize harm with him. MacMac clearly thrives in his 4th line role, so the placement of Steen & Kyrou make sense, all other things considered. Ultimately, Kryou makes way to Tarasenko, Sanford loses out to Blais, and the bottom two lines sort themselves out naturally. The end of the road with Steen is near as his play is getting to the point of earning a healthy scratch. JDLR is doing Steen's 4th line role better than #20 is for a fraction of the cost, so buy your tickets to see#20 while you can. Hopefully he gets a big goal in the playoffs as a send-off.

It will be nice to get Blais back in another ~ 4 weeks and maybe start to get some cohesion up-front.

I'd scratch Steen for DLR but that will obviously never happen. I don't like Sanford on the ROR/Perron line but at this point, there really isn't anyone else to plug in there. Just have to wait until Blais is healthy and he will slot into that spot nicely.

I have to admit, I was kind of hoping to see Schwartz stay with ROR and Perron, as well as having Thomas stay in the middle. But I’m not going to get upset about it. Berube has earned my trust and the benefit of the doubt.

That said, I would like to see Sanford removed from the group. But that has to come from the GM.
