The day of Game 7, I had a hockey game that afternoon, so I caught the first period at my friend's place before our game. I thought it was going to be a repeat of 2013 when the Kings fell behind 2-0, then after tying the game, Chicago immediately takes back the lead.

So we headed to our hockey game accepting defeat but kept monitoring the score on the bench. We were already done with our game when we found out that Gaborik tied the game, so we rushed to the nearest sports bar just in time to catch overtime.

Given that it was a Sunday, the bar was mostly empty and we were the only Kings fans in there, but we watched in shock as the puck slowly sailed over Corey Crawford's shoulder. The speed of which the puck traveled seemed similar to Mike Krushelnyski's OT goal against the Flames in 1990.

Of all the playoff rounds that the Kings won, the series against Chicago was probably the most stress inducing, mostly because of the fresh memories of how they dispatched the Kings in 2013. Revenge against the Hawks in their own building was oh so sweet.

Amen. Talk about a back and forth series. Unbelievable.

I watched at my parents place and think I took two-to-three years off the life of my old cat that was sitting on my lap as I jumped out of my seat and through the ceiling on the GWG. Drove back home to Long Beach, walked over to my local bar and rubbed it in the face of the Blackhawk fan bartender. Bonus was this big breasted sloppy drunk sitting next to me with her nipple continually slipping out of her swimsuit top. She talked to me for like a solid minute straight with her nip staring at me so, when she stopped talking, I let her know what was going on and she replied she didn't care.

What a country!

I remember coming back home from my cousin who’s kid had her baptism in Windsor ON that day. I was flying down the 401 hwy to try to get back in time to catch it. Luckily got back just in time for puck drop and without a speeding ticket.

When Jazz Hands got that winner in OT, I ran out of the house and let out a rather large scream of joy likely waking up a few neighbours in the process as it was around 11:30pm out east.

On the way out, I went George Costanza mode and brushed my wife aside. I got caught up in the moment.

Ahh memories.

I was at a great friend's bday party and I was not being a great friend

Was an utter mess all afternoon, I remember feeling so deflated and giving up when the Hawks went up 3-2 after winning the previous two games in the manner they did. It just started to feel as if the magic with which we had started to slay the dragon in game 2 had dissipated and moved back their way. In OT I was totally hammered and glued to the couch, when Martinez scored I took a lap around the neighborhood, ran into some Ducks fans (was in Anaheim that day) who were watching in their garage who gave me some high fives, and ran back inside to celebrate some more. That felt like the Cup win, series was absolutely exhausting

I think it was Wheeler who compared Kaliyev to a poor man's Laine, and I still like the Thomas Vanek comp too.

I'm actually not sure Kopitar is the right center for him because although he's elite at 200 ft and can cover for Artie we know how deferential Kopitar is when paired with shooting talent. That could work great, it could be awful. It's definitely worth a try.

I actually see what a guy like Frk is doing with Vilardi and wonder if that's the long term pairing for Kaliyev. Gabe can mix it up. He's got a deadly shot himself but he's got better vision than even Kopitar imo. Or Turcotte, but he seems to suffer from the same 'unselfish-itis' that plagues Anze if his time playing next to Caulfield is any indication.
I agree long term Vilardi would be an exciting option, I’m very much thinking in terms of getting Arty into the lineup on a regular basis whilst they work on his overall game. I quite liked the Vanek comparison also. I get the concerns with Kopi being too deferential but I’d like to see how TM gets Kopi playing with such a player, as you say definitely worth a try.

Ahh memories.
My girl kicked me out of the house because I was scaring our pets.
She drew the line when Gaborik tied it up and I screamed louder than 4 banshees

I met up with my friends at BWW. While I like my friends , I hate that place

one of the greatest moments of my life is marred by bad expensive wings

I was so mad that we blew the 3-1 series lead against the Hawks I was convinced that we were destined to lose the series. I don't think there's been a single NHL game played since then that has been better than this game. And I think it will be many more years before we see something like that again.

But I bet the diarrhea was well worth it, Lieutenant.
