Quick's 2012 playoff numbers may be exaggerated and I wouldn't say he STOLE series--but he was absolutely instrumental in shutting down the Canucks and Blues in particular early in those series allowing us to get the engine on the steamroller going. Part of why his numbers were so good were his 'big game' work early in the series getting in everyone's heads. I think he doesn't get enough credit for that part of it. Numbers wise, he actually entered the Cup finals in 2012 with a .951 which is absolutely insane. He also entered the Blackhawks series like that in 2013, he was one of the most dominant goalies in league history for those two playoff years, and even though his 2013 reg season was pedestrian, realizing he came off a back surgery after 2012 is nuts.

However I do think he takes relative over-praise in 2012 and under-praise in 2014, outside this forum it's always suggested the Kings won in spite of him in 2014 without considering the big picture at all. I mean, the guy had multiple 2-0s and 3-0s on him in one game in the Hawks series lol. Totally different run.

I dunno, with a .850QS% and a GSAA of 13.31, I think he was doing something amazing. Of course without his team contributing, he just ends up like 2017-18 where he had .750QS% and 4.50GSAA and we know how much of a brick wall he was in those 4 games.

I agree. I guess it was more of a commentary on his 2014 play. Dude was on an island a lot of the time and just came through so clutch. His highlight reel from the 2014 playoffs is just absurd and gets glossed over by those outside our forum.

Not that it was all on him, but if nothing else, they bet the Hawks in 2014 because they outscored them, not because they stopped them. They were down 0-3 to SJ, with 17 GA or whatever it was. They were down, multiple times, by multiple goals, on home ice, in the Final, only to win every game in OT.

They were not the same defensive team in 2014 that they were in 2012, despite being deeper on defense in 2014. 4C wasn't as good. 2C was different. Muzzin instead of Scuderi. Not the same offensive team either. Very doubtful they win in 2012 with 0 goals from Kopitar in both the 3rd and 4th rounds.

In 2014 it was definitely Murderers' Row in the West. Teams ranked 2nd, 5th and 7th overall to get to the SCF. Dispatching 116, 111 and 107 point teams just to get the honor of facing the Rangers. That's what makes that 3 year run so incredible. How many records did those teams tie or set on their way to 2 Cups? I know someone's got a list, but it's freaking lengthy. Two runs which likely will never be duplicated by any team. 8th seed blasting the 1st (President's Trophy), 2nd and 3rd seed. Winning Games 1 and 2 on the road in all 4 series. No other team will ever start the Playoffs down 0-3 and go on to win the Stanley Cup. I can state that with confidence. 3 consecutive Game 7 wins on the road. The Kings just didn't win. They went HISTORIC on the NHL.

You are not in the minority

Plus I think that they also faced stiffer competition. Except the Rangers

Many of the players actually felt the Rangers were as difficult a team as any that they faced because of their speed. Let's not forget we were on the right side of 3 OT's.

I think the eastern conference opponents irk me more both times. Like, eastern conference bros, you had THREE cracks at them and you couldn't get it done. at some point you have to admit they were the best team in the east that year and that no, you WOULDNT have beaten the Kings either, since you couldn't get past either team they relatively stomped.

The Kings gave their fans the best three years of hockey any team has given their fans since the 80's.

2012 was the complete and total domination, destroyed everyone, 3-0 in every series, 10-1 on road, 4-0 in OT, historical playoff by Quick.
2014 was the never-say-die excitement. The reverse sweep, 7-0 in elimination games, 3 game 7 wins on the road.

2013 gets lost in the shuffle but it was also a pretty exciting run, coming back from 0-2 vs. St. Louis, the 7 game series vs. SJ. They even battled hard vs. Chicago, forcing OT late in Game 5.

It's a shame it was such a short run, but it was still very very special and holds up historically vs any teams 3 year run.

If they're going to do it, they're going to do it. If other leagues were to start back up too, the NHL isn't going to be the one that doesn't. Since there's no fair way to get it all going again, then pick whatever plan and go with it.

Not a huge fan of the bracket thing though. I know it's big with the NCAA tournament, but if the chance is there, I'd go with re-seeding every round. I get why the NHL changed that after 2013, at least when it comes to the West, but should Montreal take out Pittsburgh, Boston should probably get them, not Philly. I'm sure there's probably a dollar or two to make from the bracket challenge or whatever though, but, always liked the re-seeding of teams in the 1-8 format.

they are remaining bracketed so they can keep the same bubbles for as long as possible. If you bubble 4 teams togeather, they can get through two rounds before being exposed to a different group from a different bubble

They are most likely only playing at 2 sites, so they may still wind up re-seeding after the play-in (ex. if MTL beats PIT they would play the #1 seed) and not have to travel.

A few people were asking for the 2014 WCF with Chicago. This guy has most of the series in full. Missing game 6 though. Get it while you can.

Alright fellow YTTV's

Hockey will likely start soon and we are going to be stuck without FSW.

Has anyone looked in to other streaming services?

I don't think the Kings will be playing anytime soon Lt Dan. Better to look for streaming info on all the NBC outlets which have tournament games.

Still many details for the players to understand and accept before the season is resumed, and if they don't want to live under the kind of lock down restrictions, which will likely be much more severe than those on the general public, they should vote to cancel the remainder of this season.

Their may not be anything on FSW anyway, the NHL could take all of the play-in games and put them on NBCSN, CNBC etc. like during the playoffs. The league still has to fulfill the lost portion of the regular season, and that may be how they do it.
