If Vilardi plays in Ontario this year, we could have a top powerplay unit of:

Kupari - Vilardi - Anderson-Dolan
Bjornfot - Anderson

If Hutton keeps playing as he has, I hope they try to sign him. He's pretty quick at making plays and transitions. With a good probability of Martinez traded at the deadline,
would leave MacDermid, Ryan, and Forbort on the Left. Not too great...and while I believe BOTH (LHD) Bjornfot and (LHD) Mikey Anderson are on the team next year, would
be good to have a decent young veteran like Hutton, who can play in all situations. I would rather sign him and let Forbort go. I know when Wagner was going up ice and thought
Hutton was going to get it from him, he never had control and yes, got picked. But that was the first time in 9 games I saw something like that. I've been pretty surprised by his play.
Sure, he can be dealt at the deadline, but if not for a good offer, would prefer to sign him.

no i completely agree

i also think there's something to be said for him being held back by not being the prototypical good ole canadian boy which i think is kinda bull****

there's GMs in this league employing radko gudas and (formerly) raffi torres, i think there's room for a lazy, skilled talent. i don't want a league full of nick shores, no offense to him
I can only assume there is a concern about how Coachable he is or an attitude issue. I have no real opinion on it but it seems strange 30 teams passed on an obviously skilled kid, laziness doesn’t explain it for me as it’s a maturity issue normally. Contract limits do to some degree but for a first round skill set I’m surprised no one took a chance.

plus if claimed he would have to stay with the NHL team for set length of time. Now that he is in the AHL I believe he does not require waivers if he stays down there post acquisition. Once called up I think he needs them again if sent down.

I wonder what the Islanders would want for Ho-Sang. not even sure I would want him.

Dreger said that the Isles are continue to try to trade him. Ho Sang asked for the trade prior to the start of the season and he's not playing, he's in limbo, skating in Toronto

Le Brun said a few teams, (The Canes for one) have kicked the tires. So I guess they didn't offer what Papa Lou felt was fair value.

Thing is, if HoSang believes he can play well on another team, he has to show that, like Drouin did, after he demanded a trade and didn't play for awhile, and didn't get traded, he revoked the request, played in the AHL and the trade happened.
Given nobody picked up HoSang on waviers, you'd think his agent will encourage him to play in the AHL, work his butt off and get some teams interested.

You know he went on waivers right? We could have made a claim and send Grunds down. Maybe the fact he wasn't claimed or can't be traded is because he is a lazy prick?

While I have no interest in acquiring him, players get traded after going through waivers. It's an issue of contract limits.

Ho Sang is the new Nail Yakupov. IF you put him on the right team in the right situation he MIGHT take off. You'd think in this NHL a team would've made a move for Ho Sang, the fact that nobody has tells me the scouts know more than I do and they're saying Hard Pass.

Has there ever been an instance where a player who has yet to prove himself and one who is a known headcase turn out to be worth the trouble? I can't think of one.
i dunno but it remains an unknown until then

he's asking for a chance, give it to him and you either win or he buries himself

there are teams in this league that can afford to lose

Given Ottawa's situation and their roster, there's plenty of opportunity for Ho-Sang there. I don't think the Kings need any disruptive assholes in their locker room.

I don't think he was necessarily known to be a head case at the time, but Danny Briere said later in his career that it was a rude awakening when he cleared waivers as a young player. He put up points everywhere along the way but struggled in the NHL. I vaguely recall Briere admitting that he wasn't the most coachable guy at that point, so he had to make some changes on/off the ice to turn things around.

But yeah, a case like Briere seems to be rare one.

While not necessarily a head case, there were a lot of red flags for Kessel deferring blame from himself during his draft year, as outlined by Gare Joyce's "Future Greats and Heartbreaks."

I'd put Frk on that unit over JAD. Best shooter on the Reign. JAD more of a 2nd unit guy. Clague will be on the point.

I wonder if Arthur Kaliyev will be traded later on in the season if not then what are the odds he plays for the Reign once his team is eliminated

I'd say that if the Reign are still playing and Kaliyev's OHL season is complete, it's pretty much a guarantee he joins the Reign at the end of the year. Last year Dudas joined the team at 18 years old to get some experience. The Reign regular season doesn't finish until the end of the 2nd week in April (one week longer than the NHL), and the OHL season usually completes about the 3rd week in March unless your team is going to the playoffs. Probably Thomas and Dudas join too this year if they are available. It's really unfortunate that Kaliyev cannot play in the AHL next season, he's the perfect candidate since he may not quite be up to NHL pace, but too skilled to play in the OHL to really help his development.
