So does Brown have the worst case of the ****s of all time or what? He is already ruled out for Saturday's game too. Crazy.

Dustin Brown returns to practice after hospital stay with pneumonia

“It’s been 10 days since he’s really practiced or skated. So he’s got to get the engine going again. … It won’t be Saturday (against Nashville) but hopefully soon after.”

Brown started feeling unwell during the latter part of the Kings’ recent six-game road trip but soldiered through it, playing at Buffalo on Dec. 21. He then played the final home game before the three-day holiday break against St. Louis on Dec. 23.

“I was sick on the road, sick in Columbus. It felt normal, I think it was normal (sickness),” Brown said. “It didn’t get any better and I played and played. Christmas Eve, I felt really good and then that night I started feeling achy.

“Then in the morning, I went to the hospital. Once I got to the hospital, doing all the tests, they couldn’t find anything wrong with me. I’m like, ‘I don’t feel right.’

“And then they did a CT scan and found it. Then there was about a stretch of five or six hours probably where it was the worst I’ve ever felt in my life. That night, by about 11 or 12, I broke a fever at night on Christmas Day.”

I'm surprised he played the last two games with it, crazy. Obviously, it didn't kick in yet. I've had it before when I was in my late teens and I couldn't take two steps before collapsing. I am glad that Brownie is okay.

Pneumonia sucks! I had it when I was a kid. Closest I ever felt to dying. It's like you're drowning when you're at peak illness. Just awful.

Not sure if this was posted anywhere. Tanner Pearson mic'd up vs the Kings on Dec 28. Best part is Carter butt-ending him in the gut at 2:33

Typical, every VAN goal scored, he's sitting on the bench.

Surprised you could understand anything he said with the mouthpiece hanging out of his mouth like a 16-yr old.

He's on pace for a career year, he's got 30 points in 41 games, on target for 25 goals.

Great value by Blake on that one. Guy has a good season the year prior, has a bad start and is given away. His cap hit would mean nothing so getting out from under it is worthless as well.

Everyone wanted a shakeup trade and to get away from those awful 40-point guys in the top six I thought?

Are we having second thoughts about this one now too?

Do we need more proof that Blake is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't at this point?

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

You know what they say about hindsight, right?

i expect the Kings to sell less than 50 of them.

haha, I am thinking I should get the most obscure roster player on mine that has zero chance of being a king or in the NHL past next season. I mean the jersey sucks so why not get a shitty player.

Not sure who though.

What happens if Kovalchuk gets hot in Montreal and scores 10-15 goals?

Are they giving up 25-30? Or will we want Kovalchuk back?

I said it before, I'm very interested to see how this plays out. I want to know why, from wins, losses, goals, and goals against, even with Desjardins as coach, the Kings put up better numbers without Kovalchuk in the lineup. What was the problem? If he, and more importantly the team, has success in Montreal, why would that be the case there, and not here? Since sitting Kovalchuk 25 games ago, the Kings are 6th in GA per game. They were 30th, damn near 31st, in the first 17 games this year. Did the new system all of a sudden click? Why are they giving up more than goal less per game since Nov 9th? Can that all be Kovalchuk? Tough to think so, but then, those are the numbers.

That's all with Martinez, one of the few vets on defense, having played in only 7 of the 25 games. Since Martinez went down, the Kings are 4th in GA per game, a couple % points from 5th.

Montreal is a bottom 10 defensive team without Kovalchuk. I want to see what happens.

Montreal, 42 points in 41 games this year. LA, 27 points in 25 games without Kovalchuk. Very similar points% between the two teams. Both black hole territory. With Kovalchuk, the Kings were on pace for 53 points this year.

MTL has numerous top 9 players who are injured. Kovi should give them an option to slot in on one of top lines until their other players return. If he does well, they have him on a cheap deal. If it doesn't, they'll send him to Laval - he doesn't report and walks away.
Overall, a good low cost risk for MT.

I was going to mention what KF7824 did about how Pearson probably doesn't get moved if Kovalchuk wasn't signed but I thought I'd get enough heat for panning the Pearson trade.

Pretty sure I'm on the record saying he sold low and that isn't the best thing to do. We didn't need hindsight at the time to know he was selling Pearson at his absolute lowest. We all seemed happy to be away from the contract after he bombed in Pittsburgh but then he finished the season well in Vancouver and has continued to pretty much be the player he always has been.

Will we be regretting it for years to come? Probably not; however, Pearson as a trade chip on a rebuilding team is more valuable than Pearson as a trade chip to accommodate a shake up when there was nothing to shake up to begin with.

Blake isn't damned if he does, damned if he doesn't: he's just judged on the outcomes. The outcome is fluid with Pearson and has tipped out of Blake's favor now. It was a desperation move: sometimes they work (Hiring Sutter) and sometimes they don't (Parrish/Lucic/Hagelin). At least Grebs and Tambellini busted in the Parrish trade but you get the idea when I use it as an example of a desperation move.
