Huberdeau was also drafted third overall. Our only picks #3 or higher in the 2000s: Drew Doughty.
In fact you have to go all the way back to 97 to find another #3 overall, Olli Jokinen.
hopefully that changes this year after we got punished by the lottery last year.

Blake Out of Hell III: Back in to Hell
You'd like to see push back from these guys but they know it doesn't matter so here we are.
That being said, I'd like to see these fringe type young guys like Wagner, Amadio, Porky, Roy etc...start taking some runs or stir things up. This is a huge example of why a lot of us don't want to just toss important prospects on to this roster: the vets are teaching bad habits because they aren't engaged. Young guys just go and skate around for a bit just like the vets: rinse and repeat.
I know that the Clifford as culture changer narrative gets made fun of, but here was a total kid coming in here and laying it all out on the line. Simmonds was also similar in this regard. I hate how the young guys on this team just look like passengers as well.
We had a nice little stretch there where these guys looked like they were coming together as a team but, unfortunately, it has looked a lot like last season lately.

I’d be amazed if Blake managed to acquire a pebble for Trevor Lewis. There is absolutely nothing of value that he brings to a team any more. His usefulness is long gone.
