Remember when the prevailing wind carried the message that we should have taken Bogosian over Doughty? That didn’t age well.

Dude has been an absolute bust in my opinion. Or imagine if for some odd reason St. Louis picked him instead of Pietrangelo.

i was thinking about that during the game when a puck came up the boards at bogo and he couldn't keep it in then got booed

kinda dulls the pain of missing out on karlsson in that draft when i think about how we could've been stuck with both teubert and bogosian

Bogo has been an absolute BUST. Dude even requested a trade not long ago since he's been a healthy scratch most of the season.

You win some, you lose some x 100.

After seeing how bad defensively Clague was the pre-season, I have to admit that his offensive game tonight along with his breakouts and reading the play on when to jump are extremely strong. This kid plays a thinking man's game and it will translate to the new NHL no doubt, the only question being which stay-at-home defenseman to pair him up with.

I'm definitely impressed with Roy and Walker under TMac this year. How exciting if Clague, Durzi, Anderson, and Bjornfot can take the next step in the upcoming years.

Doughty maybe? He’s bound to get a look there at some point.

What’s been great about Clague is that he immediately came in and played like Clague, that bodes well. If he can translate his natural games it gives him a chance at sticking. He’s improved defensively and whilst we’d have liked more rapid development it is happening and defencemen take time. The NHL will offer more structure to play within and any time he gets with Doughty will help him massively as he will in effect have a coach on ice with him. He has a real chance now and we could certainly do with a genuine offensive d-man.

Yea i was sleeping on clague. I had no idea of his game breaking offensive potential. If he can round out his game positionally and defensively he will be a nice addition to the roster
I am afraid that will be difficult. Hopefully he can improve to the level of Voynov. Clague’s offensive tools are top notch.

Drew Doughty with some sick assists lately.

Loved the poise, heady plays and decisiveness.. However, I worried about his utter lack of physicality and just how thin he looks. He really needs to add some muscle and strength which is a bit odd considering he’s been in Ontario the last 2 seasons and hasn’t shown much physical maturation. Overall though, it was an really solid debut and now m even more curious/excited to get another look at Bjornfot and Mikey Anderson

Johnny prefered Bogosian because of his physical presence of course ?

Bogosian really looked good in his first NHL season when I watched him.

Strange he was never a guest star in ER.

In the few games I watched them almost 12 years ago, I preferred Bogosian. He was extremely talented, great shot, and very mean.

I wasn't as good at picking up/evaluating hockey sense. Maybe I'm still not. But I'm not above outing myself on where I was very wrong.

Yes he was really good. One game vs the Kings stood out. Good skater, with and without puck, mean streak, good shot.

Something went wrong after he got injured that season.

It's tough to evaluate guys who are physically dominant at lower levels.

On the flip side of a guy like Bogosian, you have a guy like Pettersson, for as insanely talented as he was, a stiff breeze would turn him into bambi...then at the next level he's as strong on his skates as Jamie Benn.

In Bogo's case I think it was injuries more than anything. But since that draft (remember Luke Schenn too?), I've been very leery of guys who were labeled shutdown/defensive d-men in junioirs because if they didn't have the offensive IQ to keep up with those guys then they can't really outthink guys at the NHL level either.

Bogo was a damn good prospect, he had an intimidating presence and was scoring at a .4 PPG rate as an 18 year old. He is more of a bust due to injuries, rather than poor evaluation.
