Nope lol.

But if he is, trade Lafreniere for Harley straight up

Panarin-Miller-Zib
Cuylle-Trocheck-Perreault
Berard-X-Kaliyev/Othmann
4th line

Harley-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Vaakanainen-Schneider

Now that’s a defense.
Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren to the Dallas Stars for Wyatt Johnston and Thomas Harley.

Is there a Will Borgen equivalent of a 3C out there? Someone we could trade for and extend at a fair price?

Frederic I like but seems like he will be expensive. Jake Evans has been solid for Montreal. Gourde's best years are behind him id imagine.

There isn’t much because the wild card race is still too tight. Maybe Nashville would move Novak? It feels like the prices will be high for a 4c that you hope can move up to a 3c. For me once edstrom is healthy I would love pl to give him a shot at c, it’s his natural position, and whether that’s him as 4c & moving up carrick, or let Eds get a shot between ck & cuylle or ck & smith. Why not see what we’ve got there?

I'd offer Miller a long term deal. 7 years @ $5.5m per season. Lock it in
There’s no way he signs to that on the precipice of this rising cap era. He’s probably north of $6 and only on 3-4 year deal. For 7 years you’d have to go to something much closer to $7 or even over. Would I do it? In abstract this is pretty reasonable for a player of his quality coming into his prime (and assuming he continues to play focused like after the infamous give away). Still I don’t want him paired with Fox but if Drury can find a legitimately good partner for Fox but with savings then I wouldn’t mind Miller’s price tag. Otherwise spend money on 1LD to play with Fox, trade Miller for a haul and replace his position with someone’s cheaper (moving Schneider there is an option). I guess my decision tree starts with can Schneider be a good partner for Fox?

Brodz is fine at 3C since JTM and Trochek are gonna be 40 minutes+ between the two of them.
I’d prefer center depth where opponents face high quality for 50 min instead of 40. I’m hoping Laviolette overloaded first line to get Zibanejad going and then switch him back to center (and then split Panarin and JTM to different lines too).

I am with you on this. Overloading the first line turns us into a 1 line team and easy to contain when space is non existent come playoffs. (If they make it)

Smart play here would be to share the wealth.

The rangers do need a third line center because if everyone gets their wish and Mika gets traded this summer, they only have 3 centers. Like in the entire organization. I know the constant naysayers are pumping their chests saying we cant make the playoffs and we should give up and "trade Adam Fox" but we definitely need a 3C. for this year and future years. years in which we will be contending for the playoffs and Stanley Cup. To the chagrin of many here it appears.

This, plus make it easier for Miller to get integrated if he’s not dealing with full center responsibilities from the start. I’d guess they go Miller-Zibanejad-Trocheck in that order after the break. If concerned about even strength ice time can occasionally move one of those guys to the wing for a shift here and there.

If Kreider comes to the GM and says I'll resign for 1Mx3 or 4 do you do it? Curious how many of you think his performance this year is an anomaly vs future trend
I'm not sure I understand the point of the question. Kreider has 2 years left on his contract. He can't sign an extension until July 1st, 2026.

If this is meant to be a purely hypothetical scenario where we are pretending that Kreider is a UFA this summer, would I sign him to that deal? If it doesn't have an NMC, absolutely. We'd be stupid not to, as there is no risk. Either he bounces back, and we get a great bang for our buck, or he continues to regress, and we bury him in Hartford.

In the summer of 2026, there's no chance of him taking that kind of deal, so the question is moot. Assuming we keep him for another year, he will either bounce back and ask for more, or he will continue to regress, and we won't want him.

Right now, I'd be weighing offers. If we get a good enough offer, I'd trade him and not worry about whether or not he is going to bounce back.

Long-term yup but I can understand what Laviolette is doing for now.

Laviolette is back to having two centers on the ice for puck drops. It also a good option in case we need to manufacture goals in short spurts. But having three lines with good (vet) centers would give Laviolette options with minutes allocation. Probably after the break.
