5 goals is 5 goals, and they're not as bad as the Sharks yet. Although I guess that part isn't good.
Martinez is a top four but we need to sell him this season, because he's not getting any younger
He is a top 4D for the 14-15 through 19-20 Kings, and there's 1 playoff win. It's not his fault, he was forced into it, but he isn't
that good. If he's in your top 4, your top 3 have to be very good, and the Kings haven't had that since Voynov.
Having more fun watching the Blues/Bruins, those teams still hit people with purpose. I just can't stand how soft the Kings are after watching the 2012-2014 teams Buzzsaw people. I don't like pond hockey or stick waving defense, it's so infuriating.
One thing those Kings teams were able to do was interfere. Muzzin, Doughty, and Greene especially, like all the time. Blatantly. There should've been so many more penalties. Able to slow things down. That's all but been taken out of the game, but the Kings also don't have good players, or at least the bruiser types. If MacD gets in, the complaint is then that he can't skate. He would've been perfect on the 12-14 Kings. But yeah, physical play when you're a bad team is cathartic, and good teams tend to be physically engaged.
When you play only 5 defensemen and three of those are Hutton, Roy, and Walker, you are not going to win many games.
If you play 6 defensemen, and 3 of them are those 3, you're not going to win many games. If you play 7 defensemen...
Was overall happy with what I saw with the coaching and system. But if they are going to do crap like this it's better to just send him back to Sweden for the season. Stuff like this really could have a negative impact on his overall development.
I wonder if this could be something that Blake and TMac may not see eye to eye on, much like with Lombardi and Murray with Moller back in the day.
Which of the two would you say made the choice to keep him on the team? It wouldn't be TM, I don't think, since he's already benched him for the 3rd period in his first game. He's a normal coach, doing what normal coaches do. In a close game, the young guy sits. What pressure would Blake be under to force an 18 year old onto a bad team? He wasn't even their first 1st round pick. All the experts are sort of agreeing that the Kings pipeline is pretty good. No point in forcing an 18 year old onto the team to prove it. Is Bjornfot here because he makes Doughy smile and feel good? Is #8 running the show? Give him the 9 games, so that Doughty shuts up for the year?
