I thought it was a fun game. I'm surprised to see everybody so down when the consensus was that we are the worst team in the league. There were some cobwebs, some tough bounces, the refs didn't help, but the team showed some resolve. This team looked much more entertaining and I saw a lot of positives tonight, really pumped for the season(outside of another year listening to Faust).

Um no. The Kings are not going to have

Turcotte (19)
Bjornfot (19)
Kaliyev (19)
Fagemo (20)
Thomas (20)
JAD (21)
Anderson (21)

All on the roster, and that does't even factor in the likely top 5 pick from this season (18 year old) who is likely to be a better prospect than all those guys other than possibly Turcotte.

That would be a disaster for development. They need to bring in a competent veteran or two on the blueline and a stop-gap #2C for a season or two.

I think most everyone realized this was a bottom 5 roster in the NHL but it really hit home tonight just how horrible the defense is going to be.

And it's frustrating to see old and bad, and there are alot of old bad players on this team.

We will be bad for a long time but these kids are the ones that make sucking worth watching. And this years 1st too.

This, because this season is not going to be (all nor parts of) Kings hockey that won 2 cups in 3 seasons.

I think Prokhorkin never got a fair shake to play top 6 minutes in pre-season. He never looked bad. Came close to having a goal and an assist the one game, from line 4 with scrubs. He's not
necessarily the answer, but line 2 is bad and he should have had a real shot there. Or even on Kopi's left and Iafallo would help be a catalyst that line 2 could use. Prokhorkin led Ontario in shots tonight, with 4. Didn't see the game. Good to see Kupari with assist on GWG.

I thought Kopitar, Brown and Doughty played well. Carter had some chances and Kovalchuk picked up an assist. The defense is very inexperienced, but I imagine that is going to improve as the season goes on. This is an entirely different team than the one we saw last season and it was very refreshing, at least for me.

While I agree that I like that kinda hockey, I'm not sure the players we have can play that kind of hockey, especially against the Oilers.

I think we're just working with what we got.
 
Not a good night for the rookie defensemen. I’m still not a fan of Roy. Björnfot was meh.

Fun game to watch, though. I hope the kings can keep up this kind of pace. Beats the heck out of losing 2-1.

Hell of a play by Kopitar at the end to somehow break up a 3 on 1 with no goalie and pick up a penalty. Amazing.

Byfield is an August 19 Birthday. Barely eligible for 2020 draft. 6'4" 215. 7 GP 7 Goals 9 Assists 16 points and leading OHL in scoring. I am okay for a learning year for youth, parting ways with vets and getting shot at Byfield. Not even padding stats w PP points...only 1 of 7 goals PP. He's going to be 6'6 225 and a monster.

Amadio has always taken 2-3 years at each level and he then rises to the top....like in Bantam. he had numbers like Gretzky, Lemieux, Lindros, Crosby...like 3 to 4 pts per game. See LINK: He then was a #1 round pick with Brampton, but took 3 yrs to score 50 goals his last jr year...he then took 2 years to score a ppg in AHL. Amadio is LEGIT TALENT. He just needed time and confidence, He's decent 200 foot center and SMART. He can make top NHL plays...and he NEVER gets to play with the better players on the Kings....put him 2C and give him someone better than Toffoli to play with....errr... The goal he scored tonight was elite level shttt. I guess the Kings cannot ice 2 top lines! SEE AMADIOS STATS. 3-4 points a game in bantam. He was always a known talent Michael Amadio at eliteprospects.com

Never too soon to talk 2020 draft. Three kids I want from this upcoming draft Byfield, Lafreniere and Russian Goalie Askarov. He is going to be amazing.

No way we choose a goalie. Lafreniere or Byfield would be killer, but a guy like Drysdale would be huge too. I’m just excited we’re developing players.

I hope to see Amadio as a future elite 3C. Wagner - Amadio - Grundstrom, please and thanks.

I do like the better tempo the Kings played with.

There's a lack of cohesion between the middle six lines and the bottom four defense.

Quick started to fight the puck and became unwound as the game went on.
