My best guess would be in case it needs to be delayed for weather they have several hours to play with.

I've never seen that affect a team in this tournament. I think they should be fine. Considering the ice conditions, the faster Canadian team will need to adjust their play style as bad ice is a problem for a team that lives and dies with it's ability to outskate, so they should be evenly matched in terms of advantages and disadvantages.

WJC was special enough as it were. There was absolutely no need for this outdoor gimmickry. Outdoor games are poor quality, inhibit effective playmaking and do not decide the better team.

It's probably being done for a cash grab. I agree that outdoor games are somewhat awkward. My prediction - 4 - 2 Canada.

Seems like a pretty dramatic take on a preliminary round game in a juniors tournament. Somehow, I'm guessing the kids playing aren't nearly as worked up about the venue as some seem to be in here.

Everyone is playing on the same ice. There are no excuses. If any of these kids can only compete under pristine conditions, they better hope they are never playing for the Cup in June. I think they deserve a bit more credit than that, personally.

I have no issue with outdoor games as they’re cool every now and again and everyone gets the same conditions but they really don’t have a place for regular season/preliminary games. They’re something that should be an exhibition game.

Everyone should play in the same venue and to put a game outside in the freezing cold and to ask guys to perform at the level they’re used to is impossible. Your body simply can’t do what it normally does. The quality of the product is going to suffer and there’s a greater chance guys get hurt.

There may not be an advantage to the 2 teams playing but what about the other 8 teams? Everyone should play in the same venue. Outdoor games are stupid and have no place unless it’s an exhibition game.

One thing with the outdoor ice is it might slow down the faster Canadian team, we'll see though both teams need to play on the same ice.

Having issues with my TV, so I'm trying to watch this on my laptop. Problem is, I can't find NHL Network available to stream? I'm not trying to illegally watch it... I'm trying to put in my centurylink account information and watch it. Any ideas why NHL Network doesn't offer online streaming, even if you're subscribed to a provider that has that channel?
