Gotta say, I f***ing hate these outdoor games. Terrible hockey every single time, just a pure money grab gimmick that cheapens the sport. Yes, I liked playing shinny as a kid, but that doesn't mean I like watching top level players reduced to playing sloppy hockey because of poor conditions. It's already an awful idea in the NHL, but in a short tourney like the WJCs, where every game really matters? Ridiculous.

I'm not saying he did a great job. I'm saying that everyone seems to be singling him out, and a whopping zero of the three guys that were back for that rush made the play. Two failed out of pure apathy, and one because he lost a one-on-one.

Since nobody wins every one-on-one battle they are in, the guys who failed out of pure apathy sure seem like they should be drawing a little more ire than none.

Why, I've never seen back checkers get more blame then the guy defending in a 1 on 1. If he dropped it back to a trailing player and the back checkers were puck watching, sure. Otherwise, he should probably not bite so hard to a feint and let the guy walk a runs him.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm no expert....but if you have to change the fundamental rules of the game to ensure a "level playing field" due to the venue.....perhaps it's not the greatest of venues?
