No the video ref should lose his job. He doesn't have the eyesight to figure it out from the obvious video evidence, he can't perform those duties. Too much at stake to let a blind man fly.
If you think a man should lose his job for making one mistake should Valimaki be off the team?

This isn't Canada being dominant, this is the Finns being disoriented and exposed to the small ice skating speed. There's no real storyline to be made from this match, other than this Finnish team can just go upwards from the hole they are in.

Those idiots who are in charge in SM liiga they should start consider to bring smaller North American size rinks in SM liiga. In this game you clearly see what's the difference between Euro size rink and North American rink.

Finland clearly has serious problems to adjusting to North American ice.
And it clearly shows in this game.

The Katchouk goal shouldn’t have counted, I’m still in confusion on how it did based on the rules of the IIHF. It wasn’t a good hockey goal.

With that said, it counted and it can’t be taken back now. It’s a shame that it did and this game should be 2-1 right now.

Hintz has newer been a physical player, but otherwise I agree. Team Finland should hit more, because there are guys capable of that kind of a play as well.
I remember him being fairly physical, but it's not even so much about hitting them. Our guys are too weak when Canada gets physical, guys like Rantanen and Hintz could keep up with the physicality.

They told in Finnish broadcast that video ref said the puck was in goal before goal was dislocated.

Everybody can watch it again.

So it wasn't about so crazy IIHF rule...

One thing no one’s mentioning is how solid Hart’s been. Not messing around. Not flashy but really solid on those PK’s

These threads are always a tire fire whenever Canada faces a good team and/or there's a polarizing prospect or prospect of a high profile NHL team.

The goal shouldn't have counted because it was Katchouk who knocked the net off and it was off before the puck crossed the line. Oh well the call was missed, it sucks, it happens. Time to move on. At least it didn't happen in OT of the GMG, it can be overcome.

I don't understand the first goal. A representative of the officials should really come in and clarify. That shouldn't have been a goal, no matter how you spin it. Either it's the net getting dislodged or the goal scorer pushing Luukkonen back which ultimately led the puck across the goal line. It's either goalie interference or the net being dislodged. I don't see how there's a third option for that scenario.
That's how I saw it, but it wasn't ruled that way obviously. Team has to move on from it though. Plenty of hockey left.

If you want a line that can go against Mittelstadt's line, you need to put Thomas and Kyrou together.

And then people will start complaining once the performance in big ice tourneys start suffering. What ought to happen is that there should be an international and inter-league agreement on ice dimensions so that we can get over this silliness.

Not sure if Ferraro was joking about Miller being big on superstitions. Miller loves saying shut out and letting everyone know he doesn’t care what they think about it

Which is score goals?

Now they're just giving him the puck and expecting him to do it all himself. He's a scorer, not a playmaker, he needs people to give him opportunities to score.

He's created a lot of chances in the KHL, been dominating in some stretches.

Swedish tv experts said KHL has low speed and that tolvanen cant handle the fast wjc hockey

I really don't buy that.

But they played damm slow in the 1st.

You are correct. Small ice is only infinitely better in every facet of the game. Slow, non-talented players compared to NHL? Yes, make them play in a wider and longer rink so they can look even slower and not need to make any kind of fast decisions to evolve their game.
Small ice is more entertaining by default because of the speed, there's rarely a moment that a player can just skate around people. Well, McDavid does that. But that's that.

Finns just looks so disinterest after that first goal. Referees ruined a fine game.

The way I understand it now is that the plastic pipes that keeps the posts in the ice hadn't completely moved. That would explain the whole thing. Now whether I agree with that call is a completely different thing.

Valimaki isn't out there to enforce rules. If Valimaki was a pilot and couldn't see a thing, yes he should lose his job. This videoref needs to lose his because he can't see from a video what the rest of the world sees
