Kotkienemi is in a different tier than Veleno... and I like Veleno.

Not when it comes to skating... Veleno is the better skater from I am reading but Kotk has more offensive upside and a better shot

Faster skater yes. Not a better skater when you talk about edge work and what you can do with the puck on your stick. Not a good comparison IMO.

Im kinda demoralized... the 3rd pick is just... meh...

Zadina.... wahlstrom... they both have too much meh going on.

Boqvist would be nice, but he doesnt fit a need or give the habs an elite forward like Svechnikov does.

Agreed. I think they are NHL middle 6 centers but what they bring to the table is different. Hard to say who develops quicker but I do think Veleno is the better skater while JK has more offensive upside and has a better shot.

I will say this though.... If Veleno scored more, he would be a legit top 10 pick in this draft. Veleno did save his stock value with the stats he put up with Drummondville after the trade (48 pts in 33 games with 16 goals). I wonder what Ducharme says about him and if we trade Patch for a 9-15 range pick, does he support taking Veleno?

A good measure for Veleno is the WJC-18 and Hlinka Memorial games... 10 pts in 9 games with 2 goals. The lack of goal scoring power is a concern to me. The rest of his game is very good

It's almost as important as an elite C. It's far more a need than getting yet another winger.

Nah this team needs a game breaker at forward, Svechnikov was exactly that. Boqvist is nice and most likely my pick at #3 with Zadina/Kotkaniemi/Wahlstrom really close behind but the Habs havent had a dominant forward since Kovalev that one year and before that it was Koivu that one year... and before that it was Lafleur.... bout time we get one of the forward.

This team will not be a legitimate contender until they can secure two centers and a top defenseman that can compete with those in our own division that's not even to talk about the league itself.

A simple return to Vezina form for Price could be enough to put us in a wildcard spot. So essentially, we'd be back to square one.

Compared to Dahlin yes, but not compared to Svechnikov. You can be high on Svechnikov all you want but most have him and Zadina close in potential with Svechnikov getting the edge for how he finished the 2nd half of the year.

Svechnikov has similar numbers to Kane, Tavares, McDavid and other elite of the elite offensive OHL players... Zadina doesnt even outproduce Hischier on a better team. Hes good and all but theres nothing close between the two.

Svechnikov finished the year with almost a goal per game, that kind of feat is only for the great of the great

Why not? When you put lines together, you don't just pencil in players according to rank. You try to find balance within your top 9. Scherbak has game and when he plays with talent, he produces. We have seen glimpses of his potential this past year.

It's also worth noting that Zadina is a RW. He is a left handed shooter that likes playing off wing.

Always beware the numbers from the Q......i like Zadina cause h'es been good in other league too.
