Those three guys will get picked up far before half the guys on your list - not sure why you value them so much lower than NHL scouts, but hey that's the fun of creating your own list within your own parameters, yes?

Thing is, what if Montreal takes Veleno?!? The weeping and gnashing of teeth on this thread will be something! I'm hoping for you guys that they don't take him (or McBain or Groulx...)

That's absolutely correct. No way in hell someone like SDA gets selected ahead of McBain. But like you said that's part of the fun of making your own list: making hot takes.

I think most people would be fine with Veleno in the 2nd. But I'll be pretty upset if we pass on Berggren for Veleno.

You better have a big cup of coffee ready for today, can't sleep through the draft.

Didn't factor in where they might go, I simply ranked it how I have them. Was three rounds at first but decided to cut some guys. Some were either left out due to lack of viewings (Bernard-Docker) and others while they're not NDs, I don't like as much.

I put this little table in the JK prospect board thread. Because we don't have records of TOI for Barkov, Granlund, Lehkonen etc. we can't make the comparison, but Jesperi is the best even strength point producer we have on record in terms of rate, and tied for the second best EV point production with Granlund (25) and behind only Barkov (27).

He sucked dick on the powerplay though.

Now I have to hope someone reaches on Beaudin before we do.. another thing to worry about.

Not that I don't want Beaudin but he's not a first round pick.

It has finally arrived. After a crap year we finally get a prize. No clue as to who they will take at this point which I guess is what they want. Prefer Kotkaniemi but with the O'Reilly rumors... Anyways, I just wanted to thank the guys/gals on here who contribute to make the Entry Draft thread what it is. Your knowledge and time spent studying these prospects is truly amazing. So thanks WTK, NP, A79, et al. We all owe you a tip of the hat. Enjoy tonight...may very well be the last with Bergie running the ship aground. Or not lol

Who are your guys ND?

Brady tkachuk at 3
Veleno
M and A Samuelsson
Ginning
McLeod

And some later round guys like Bahl, Konddlik, basically anyone big who lacks skill

McLeod brothers say Screw You WTK.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Hasn’t Carolina not drafted a Russian in a long long time?

They don't have scouts in Russia. Can't afford them. New owner has already talked about correcting that.

They also can't afford for a Russian playing in the CHL to go home to the KHL. They don't have a lot of resources so the "Russian factor" is a real threat for them.

Svechnikov is worth it.

That's from 2 weeks ago.

This is from yesterday:

Andrei Svechnikov is the only prospect in Carolina Hurricanes history that the team invited to Carolina before the draft (other than 2004 when the draft was here). That even includes the likes of Eric Staal. They didn't invite Zadina, Tkachuk, or anybody, ever (which is amazing and sad at the same time). They already had a meet and greet with Svechnikov and long time season ticket holders. You don't do that unless you are 100% sure you are taking the guy. The draft is in Dallas, which is Dundon's home town. His daughters are going to be runners at the draft, running the pick to the podium.

If some team comes and makes an "offer they can't refuse", then sure, but teams don't make offers like that which is why no team has knowingly traded out of the top 3 since 2002.

I think there is virtually no chance that the Canes move the pick or select somebody other than Svechnikov.

Denisenko is mine, only because he's a 2nd rounder for me and he'll be long gone by then.
Only truly a concern if we get another mid-first. If we pass on Smith/Kravtsov/Hayton/Kaut for Denisenko I'll be fairly disappointed. Upside is there but the other picks available are just much stronger IMO

Doesn't matter when you're closer to Dahlin then you are to the rest of the field.

Yeah, plus the guys that stayed away from Russians are pretty much gone. That was more the case under Karmanos/Rutherford and to a lesser extent Francis (he did acquire/sign both Zykov and Tolchinsky).

Dundon is sold on this guy, as I'm sure Brind'amour and Waddell are as well.

The only reason I don't have the same thinking on Denisenko is I think the Russian factor could drop him

I'm hoping that Kaut's seemingly harmless heart condition (from what we know), scares enough teams and we can trade back into the first to grab him at ~24-28
