I have asked.. "why aren't you doing anything" when watching Tkachuk in the NCAA playoffs tho

He doesn't get up to as much from shift to shift as some ''big 2 way north american'' ball washers would have you believe, but Bouchard is soft as baby shit defensively, and the evidence points to him being pretty goddamn dumb.

Honestly I don't see what Hayton has more than lets say Jared McCann a couple years ago.
Comparing 2 hounds.

McCann was always seen as a 15-20 pick and he ended up falling a bit.

Cause the Habs have been a model franchise when it comes to sound decision-making?

I understand the Sens are at a whole other level on account of their off ice issues. But the Habs have no lessons to give to anyone, so I'm not exactly inclined to call the Sens "stupid" when our own management has been beyond brutal.

Sens management are still dumbasses. That ours is incompetent doesn't change that fact. The Sens have managed to make MB/Molson look just incompetent rather than horrible.

The Sens are wallowing at a whole different level.

At 3 has to draft BPA. To draft a player ranked much lower like Kotkaniemi, because of the position he plays likely end up a mistake

The Sens's detrimental management moves are not wholly imputable to the GM. The owner is calling the shots in an overly intrusive manner. Compare that to our GM, who pretty much could do anything he wanted in the first 6 years of his tenure and drove this franchise to the ground. I don't know, not inclined to throw stones when our own franchise is made of glass.

That said, given that it's a draft thread, let's do the right thing with these 10 picks the Habs have -- talk about having a golden opportunity to not repeat the mistakes of the past.

If Dobson becomes something similar to Pietrangelo, theres not many wingers in the league that are more valuable than him so Walhstrom(or Zadina) needs to be elite to worth taking over him

I think its pretty clear that in the new nhl, Centers and D's are holding the most value. Youre in need of a top 6 winger, theres always a bunch of them on ufa or trade market, so im not that sure that BPA is still the way to go.

McCann had an edge in skating.

Hayton's shot is close. Both can snap it.

Hayton can score in a greater assortment of ways, is a better playmaker, plays a better all-round game and is more physical.

I'd wait for McKenzie's list to come out before commenting on rankings. He was already at 10 and then had a very strong U18 as a centre and had a strong combine (both in terms of measurements and testing). We'll see where he winds up and what the report is in a few days.

Michigan Live has an interesting excerpt from Red Line Report on Kotkaniemi:

"Big, strong center is a horse who plays a pro style power game. Tall, rangy frame and has a fine skill-set with quick, soft hands and powerful shot. Is persistent and aggressive on the forecheck. Steals a lot of pucks from behind. Has a pro quality wrist shot from a quick release but needs to shoot more instead of always looking to pass. He's a tireless worker who plays hard and makes plays for his wingers with good vision. Makes linemates better. Strong along the boards and difficult to contain in one-on-one situations -- shields the puck well and is skilled in tight. Gets involved in the dirty areas and initiates contact often -- shows good physical presence. Still growing into his frame and should develop into quite a handful once he fills out. Can get caught running around in his own end at times."
If our scouts do think he's the BPA (or right in that mix), I definitely wouldn't mind him.
