Hoping the Habs aren't soured on the Russians after losing Radulov & Markov, with players like Khovanov, Shafigullin, Marchenko, Zavgorodny, Kurashev(Swiss born) & Morozov, all talented offensive players, available in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Talent, speed & passion/desire to be the best, regardless of nationality. Waiting for the Team Canada / team Sweden game, can barely wait to see TC play Team Russia, so many great Canadians available in the 2nd round also. Foudy & Dudas come to mind immediately, Team Canada has a very good team. Sweden will be out to beat them early today. The defencemen Tychonick is another on the fringe 1st - 2nd round, would be a great draft pick IMHO. Others are McIsaac, McBain, Dellandrea, Byram, Bahl, Wouters, Merkley, did I mention a bias for Canadian players at all, in case no one noticed my favorite players are all Canadian!!!...:thumbu::thumbu::thumbu: McShane & Ty Smith have played really well for TC, Veleno needs to shoot more often, his two way game is top drawer. Serron Noel should be on the Habs radar, PWF's are always in demand and teams don't trade productive PWF's. As a Habs fan I would be remiss if I didn't mention Rafael Lavoie(Mooseheads center) & Alex Lafreniere (LW) par extraordinaire!!!...:thumbu::thumbu::thumbu: Cole Fonstad(C)(Prince Albert) has been a buzzsaw today again as has Cameron Hillis(RHC) each game speedy, talented and gritty for his size***.

Kotkaniemi and Kupari going goal for goal. Will watch the game later this evening.
Who would you draft first between the two and why??

There's been a lot of talk about Kotkaniemi but not as much about Kupari and if I'm not mistaken, Kupari is higher ranked than the other....

Betcha Wyli-E gets drafted by the Coyotes....:sarcasm:

Hughes may look like the more dynamic defenseman but Boqvist is a step ahead for me. He's always well positioned defensively. He's a great skater in his own Right. He makes smart little passes in his own end that gets his team out of troubles and onto the attack and when he wants to, he's a big threat offensively from passing to rushing and shooting.

You wouldn't have been mistaken a few months ago, but now NHL CSS, Future Considerations, McKeen's and Hockeyprospect.com all have Jesperi ahead of Rasmus.

I posted my list (for the time being, things are still changing rapidly at this time of the year) on the first page. Kotkaniemi is ahead of Kupari in my eyes as well. Kupari is an incredible skater, and Kotkaniemi has ''room for improvement,'' shall we say. But that's about it for Kupari's superiority. Kotkaniemi is the bigger, stronger, smarter player. Both have good shots, and good hands, but Kotkaniemi made much better use of those traits this year in Liiga. If you rank Kupari ahead of Kotkaniemi at this point, that's pure projection (gambling). You're picking a player who was completely ineffective in puck battles, made questionable decisions (I made a joke about Galchenyuk dekes) on the offensive side of the puck, and was actually sent down to junior for a period of time, ahead of a player who significantly out produced him all year. It's gambling, IMO.

Lavoie is an example of how important development is and how you don't keep a player somewhere they aren't ready for when they aren't ready for it.

This guy absolutely blew chunks last year. He couldn't skate. He couldn't battle. He couldn't do anything. Well the Mooseheads handled him properly and now look at him.

Nope. You've gotta be able to make an impact best on best and right now he's not. He's not as ineffective as he's been in this tournament but I can't in good faith keep him as high as I had him after his playoffs and regular season with his performance right now.
Still have him over Kotkaniemi ?

I'm far from a Q expert but I think it's fair to say the Moosehead organization is top notch all around. I don't get why the Habs aren't mining their hockey ops department dry.
