Bigger? Theyre both exactly listed at the same size.

Theyre equal to me but Zadina has the better track record.

Wahlstrom doesnt have a better shot, its pretty even, they both have great shot, great hands, good passing, etc.

Wahlstrom is a softy at times and Zadina is slowish.

Zadina has been rankrd above wahlstrom since forever, why should that change? A u18 with Eichel? Cmon.
I mean, Wahlstrom is listed heavier than Zadina, though I could've sworn Zadina was an inch or two shorter. Zadina is slow and disappears for huge chunks of a game, while Wahlstrom stays engaged. I think Wahlstrom is the better playmaker and the better all-around offensive player and play-driver, while their shots might be relatively even. Zadina lacks an extra gear, and can't really create plays of his own I find. Track record is... whatever. Zadina has been known for longer because he's a year older, and late birthdays tend to get noticed earlier because they're playing with older age groups than the regular birthdays.

Wahlstrom literally has been on the radar since he was twelve.

Both are similarly flawed player, theyre snipers. Zadina is much better off the rush than he gets credit for. Wahlstrom does have a better shooting arsenal though, but Zadina is the better PP player.

Yeah, no one looks at a 12-year old as a prospect though. I saw that video just like everyone else and then didn't hear a peep out of him for a while after that.

Anyways what it comes down to for me is one thing: I don't like Zadina's ability to drive the play, and that's what we need. He's a passenger, or a third piece to a line, whereas Wahlstrom is more dynamic, with his skating, and variety of shots.

Yeah, thats the problem. People somehow see Wahlstrom as a possible play driver. Nah, theyre both complimentary. Wahlstrom really has a similar skillset to Pacioretty. They both can be good off the rush but if hes your main man youre not gonna have any success.

I dont buy the play driver argument at all.

He's more of a play-driver than Zadina, who is absolutely unnoticeable until the split second where the puck is on his stick and then on net.

Wahlstrom plays more motivated than Pacioretty. More willing to go to the net, has better vision and a wider array of shots in his arsenal.

I still feel we'll be best served by trading down, though.

You say that without giving an explanation tho, why are you not a fan of Zadina?
I already gave plenty of time my take on Zadina in this exact same thread.

- All his goals are located in almost the same key positions which is near the faceoff dots. This area is hard to get shot through in the pro. Which beg the question is he ready to get his nose dirty?
- He is a good skater but nothing like Hischier or Ehlers were in Halifax. He won't break defense with his skating.
- He is a winger (which is the last of our needs) and although he is not small he is not playing a power game like Svechnikov and Tkachuk
- He has good vision but he is nothing like Svechnikov and might become a bit "Paciorettyesque" in the pro waiting to get feed to unload shots.

I do consider him a top 10 prospect (look at my ranking) but he is clearly not as well above as the other top prospects in this draft as some seem to label him. If a team really wants him we should definately trade down and get maximum assets in the process.

Thats not true... theres a weird narrative going on about Zadina and Wahlstrom around here... Zadina is absolutely money on the rush, just as much as Wahlstrom. Ill agree that Wahlstrom is a more creative player but hes not the kind of player to run an offense... Boqvist, Hughes, Kotkaniemi and Bouchard are, the rest are not.

But he's more creative than Zadina. I get the sense Filip is more reliant on his teammates to set him up for goals than Wahlstrom.

I dont think so. Again, on the rush Zadina is just as good. All he does is rush the circles and rip one to get a goal, Wahlstrom does that too.

Was there tonight at thet Armada game and Dobson was once again impressive. WAs just always on the ice. And was solid in both ends. Impressive d-man.

Zadina Wahlstrom or Dobson at 3, that is the question... the gap between the 3 is very slim IMO.

Kotkaniemi and Boqvist are firmly 3 and 4 to me.

These two or bust.

I'm really intrigued by Kotkaniemi and whether he'll have received enough consideration by the Habs to oust Zadina at their no. 3 spot.

That's my point.. if a Detroit, Ottawa, Arizona, Vancouver are willing to give up something for our pick we should be listening. We will collect more assets and still get a very good player.
such as the possibility for the Habs to swap firsts for the 2019 draft ...

Boqvist and Hughes and perhaps even Kotkaniemi are in that equation now too. And don't rule out Carolina passing on Svechnikov for Zadina.
Hughes maybe close to those 3 but Im not as high on Boqvist and Kotkanimi as some of you are, I think they are both a notch below..

If I have Kotkienemi ahead of Wahlstrom (which I do) and you have Wahlstrom ahead of Zadina.... then I must have Kotkienemi at 3!!

Great news! Plus he's a C. Greater news he's a Finn!!!! :D:D:D

I really like that kid. He won't be ready as soon, but I think he will be worth the wait.... I'm sure Tmmins will have the guts to just take who he likes... can't wait..

That’s funny. Zadina is more implicated in the play when the puck isn’t around. Do you think he waits for Otto Somppi to do the work for him? Because Wahlstrom’s totals went up noticeably when he was paired with Jack Hughes.

At least Zadina plays the PK. I don’t think you’d ever want Wahlstrom in that situation.

That’s the fun thing about watching elite CHL defenders, they are on the ice for like 40 mins. It’s absurd.
