Lindros was another one thru the 2nd half of the 90s that gave teenage me a panic attack when he was on the ice..... In 97 it felt like he owned us

That's because he did own us. I still see that image of Lindros hooking and then shrugging off Messier like he was a gnat in my nightmares.

Him and Bure were definitely both terrific and terrible to watch.

One of the most tantalizing stretches of watching the Rangers was when Lindros and Bure were put together and immediately found chemistry. Then Mike Danton kneed Bure the next preseason and pretty much ended his career. What could have been?

Remember being at Bure's first game as a Ranger at MSG. Place was electric. If I remember correctly he skated around 3 defenders in OT and scored the game winner. Crazy to think he was nearly done at that point.
LOL I remember the exact game you're talking about. Flew down the right side.. Should be on youtube

edit - wow, that was ez to find

I had completely forgotten they played together on the Rangers, let alone on the same line. And I was at Bure's first game as a Rangers too. Bure and Ruchinsky both went bananas after they arrived playing with Lindros.

Bure was actually still pretty effective after he came back in 02-03. Image the haul the Rangers would have gotten at the '03 deadline if they sold with that draft? Lindros Bure Leetch. I remember there being nothing on the market that year. Ian Moran went for a 2nd rounder. Oh what could have been.

That goal was from Bure's 2nd season.

He did score in his first game but they lost 3-1. Its easy for me to remember because they played his old team the Canucks.

Man, this brought back some memories. I was on a road trip in Canada with some buddies when the trade went down. We actually built the trip around seeing the Rangers play at Ottawa, and if I remember correctly, that ended up being Bure's first game in a blueshirt. They trounced the Senators that night. Things seemed to be looking up at the time!

I was at one of the games in Anaheim when Bure was playing and remember him torching the Ducks for a goal. For a brief moment, so much talent but no coaching and no defense

Bure was one of my all time favorite players. He and Lindros could take over a game. I never thought that way about Crosby or AO... not sure if they don't have that ability or that I'm not a kid anymore so I'm not as entranced as I once was!

As for Kravstov, super pumped to see him play. A Filip Forsberg or Kuznetsov type of talent would be a great young piece to add to our stable going forward.

I'd assume he'll either stay in Russia and play for the country or come over and play in the AHL on a PTO. No good reason to play him on NYR if it costs us anything at all in terms of his contract situation. He's great and I want to see him on NYR but it's not worth exposing him to the expansion or even burning a year right now.

It's bad. Talking about so many moot points here, like Kravtsov being like the arguably fastest player the game has ever seen. Or this ELC thing. Obviously management will do everything in their power to prepare for the expansion draft and that will categorically influence any rookie signings they make.

Kravtsov is pretty much our first prospect of the rebuild, that has to be a surefire 1st liner. Or else we'll lose it. But, I see no issue here. I expect him to explode on the smaller ice and faster game. He's got the hands, the skating and the brain. Simply can not wait to see him.

Now Carp is saying that signing and playing him would make him expansion draft eligible.

He also said “no way” do the Rangers want to burn a year off his ELC.

So take from that what you will. I question whether Carp actually knows the deal with the expansion thing.

Carp himself may not be well verse in the expansion draft rules, but the staff at the Athletic would most definitely know. He is also a longtime beat writer and certainly has some connections to the front office.

I would like to think of Kravtsov as a player that has no comparison ...

*like EP40 <3
Not even trying. At the very least please use ethnicity or the country of origin as a way to form pretenses. If you still are having difficulty then skin color is an option as well.

What about Sergei Makarov? Closer to him maybe?

Corey Perry!? ;)

Seriously though, he is a. Kuz type of player. Very strong motor, can take a puck at standstill in his own end and just motor it up ice. He is talented, very coordinated and gifted. Good shot and a good passer. Not the biggest dangler, but that is probably because he has played so much in the KHL instead against his peers.

But he is also a bit raw. Would love for him to explore his shooting game a bit.
