I don't know. But looking at the personnel of last year's Frolunda team that won the SHL championship most of them would not make good NHL players. Their top 10 scorers--1. Ryan Lasch was a former AHL/ECHL guy, 2. Simon Hjalmarrson a STL. 2nd rounder in 2007 who never played in North American, 3. Joel Lundqvist who is 37 like his twin brother and was more an AHL player than an NHL player, 4. Patrik Carlsson, 5. Pathrik Westerholm--a former 6th rounder by Vancouver, 6. Samuel Fagemo--just drafted in the 2nd round and I would think will be an NHL player, 7. Chay Genoway-8. Max Friberg-9. Rhett Rakhshani--all former AHL guys and 10. Ponthus Westerholm. Jordan Sigalet and Brandon Gormely also on the team both AHL guys. The goalie Johan Gustafsson another AHL guy.

Some of the better college programs will put 5/6 guys in the NHL even if the average age of the team is 21/22.

Haha my buddy played with Lasch up in Pembrook or Nepean I believe? Not sure which. Spent the weekend with him when we were 15/16, kid can drink like a hockey player that's for sure. Was a beauty. Took a tin of skoal down in two dips.

Top of the KHL for sure. The bottom of the KHL is pretty ass. They still shuffle teams in and out and last year HC Slovan finished playing with half-line-ups and couldn't pay their players.

The bottom of the AHL is pretty shit as well. Overall the KHL is still a better league than the AHL. I think the difference between the bottom teams in both leagues is quite small, while the difference between the top teams in both leagues is huge

The top handful of KHL teams are better than teams from any other non-NHL league. The middle of the KHL, I don't believe to be substantially better than the top third or so AHL teams. The bottom of each league? Who f***ing knows? I'd still probably take Hartford against Kunlun in a best-of-seven.

Just stating one league is better than the other ignores so much of the landscape. It's like saying the EPL is better than Ligue 1 so therefore Brighton is better than PSG or Monaco. There's a lot more context to it, and looking at the leagues as a single entity doesn't really paint an accurate picture of things.

Correct, and to go even further: When discussing the SHL, you should look at Sweden as a whole since it's an open league with promotion/relegation

Exactly. Handful of good teams the rest wouldn’t beat any ahl team as far as I’m concerned. I won’t put that league ahead of the A because of it.

Lundkvist gets an assist on the opening goal by former Rangers prospect Robin Kovacs who "drives it home" (I couldn't resist)

I love how he shows a good and quick understanding to take advantage of that lane to the net. Not only that but he gets a nice heavy one loaded up quickly. Good hard low shot. A very good player with good bet front presence and hands could have done something with that easily.

Beauty play from Nils.

Only problem is that Nils is a righty... so he's guy with the second assist, making the pass along the blueline. :)

I am counting down the days for my NY trip. 32 left
Straight to NYC right? I'm not far, about 3 hours. Tougher to just get down than you'd think... but also you find yourself randomly in spur of the moment situations where you get to drive to the greatest city in the world. I'm planning on trying the Sunday game right before Christmas as I'm always in the City that weekend.
