Are you implying I won't fly to NY to see Kravtsov?

Lol.... The Miller thing, he is piling up the points for sure. I watched two of his games and he's playing well no doubt but he's not dominating or even controlling play. It's kind of weird, I thought with his totals that's what I would see. I really hope Miller stays in college at least another year. He hasn't been playing defense all that long and it will be good for him to stay and develop there.I don't think he's ready just yet.

Anyway to dovetail this with Nils :

I haven't watched Nils but I can see people being impressed by him, he's in a pro league and a good one at that. From the high lights he's making nice plays and scoring. I can't say he's better than Miller, I haven't seen enough of either, but just happy he's progressing and the first round last year looks like it was pretty good.

FYI: I wasn't serious with my "Change my mind" response. I don't know who is better because it's impossible to compare college to SHL. I am just happy all 3 of our first round picks have been playing great

Pretty unfair to hold it against him that he’s not “dominating and controling the play”. There has literally been maybe 1-2 freshman who have been able to do that over the last 2 decades. This is the NCAA, not juniors where kids can dominate every game.

In case admins decide to remove all these posts about Lias, since it's the Lundkvist thread, maybe it's a good idea to move these posts to the Lias thread?

There has been some good debates going on and some great posts that are too good to delete

I'd rather reach on talent than on intangibles....not saying lias' isn't talented...he's just not as talented as some of those other guys and Bob mckenzie stated more than once that the rangers liked lias' because they felt he's the kind of player who you win with...ie intangibles.

Intangibles in Brassard kind of way IN TERMS OF not disappearing in playoffs, able to contribute in high pressure situations. I don’t have a problem the Rangers “overvalued” this in Lias compared to the difference in offensive skills between him and other options.

What am I holding against him? I said he wasn't dominant Omg the horror. The fact I think he's a work in progress is unreasonable?

Well you are bringing up that he does not dominate and control the play..that is holding it against him. Not sure of the confusion.

Yeah, can we all just take a look back at how ****ing good that 2018 first round has been so far? It’s hard to not be excited about the future.

The last 2 drafts are looking pretty damn good so far.

Chytil
Kravtsov
Barron
Lundkvist
Miller
Lias

3 years ago, our 3rd best prospect would be worse than all of these at the moment.

Then you have guys like Keane, Gross, Hughes, Ragnarsson etc who all look really promising considering where they were picked

Yep and this doesnt even include 2016 guys like Tarmo and the guys we've traded for. Everyone here wont make it but if enough do its a successful rebuild. We just need a franchise alterer

I haven’t followed Barron, Gross, Hughes and Ragnarsson much so far. But from the way everyone has talked about them, it’s good to know there’s promise.

I don't think anything about Hughes' performance in the BCHL has been impressive. Not from a statistical standpoint. 43 in 43 is tied for 35th in points per game, and most of the kids ahead of him will never sniff the NHL draft. And then when you consider he has played all season with Alex Newhook, the BCHL's Connor McDavid who has 74 in 43, it becomes even less impressive. I'm not saying his season has been bad, but I don't think it has been at all noteworthy. I'll be curious to see what he does at Northeastern next year, though.
