Carolina get #2 instead of #1 is somewhat of a blessing. Now they'll grab a forward they desperately lack.

Svechnikov, Hischier and Patrick, all thrown into our division on teams that weren't even that horrible is all I'm pissed about. I still like the new draft system in the abstract though

It’s a blessing for them. I was hoping there was a chance they’d be in a stronger situation to trade a D.

Now, they might not even need to do that. Although, if I were them I still would explore it. Whoever the new GM is anyway.

Eichel, Dahlin, Middlestadt, Ristolinen
Matthews, Rielly, Marner, Nylander

Which core would you take ?

Next year is center heavy.

We might have more of those than anyone else.

Not saying you can't always use more, but this is definitely more of a team needs draft. I wanna glutton all the picks in this one.

But now, not so fast. The Blueshirts will probably target the Coyotes and Senators, two recent trading partners, in an attempt to move up, but the price may be steep. There is a generally acknowledged gap between the top handful of prospects and the next group, which likely will include defensemen Adam Boqvist, Evan Bouchard, Noah Dobson, Quinn Hughes and Jesperi Kotkaniemi as well as forwards Oliver Wahlstrom, Joe Valeno and Joel Farabee.

I want nothing to do with Farabee or Tkachuk at 9. Their high hockey IQ, hustle and grit make me sick. Plus they aren’t a Euro

I've said it elsewhere,,,this is a draft where BPA and need meet up for the Rangers. There's quite a few high end wingers which this organization lacks.

Could see Ottawa willing to move down, they don't have a 2nd or a 3rd this draft.

The problem is that neither of those clubs is likely to be interested in a veteran player.

Arizona would be. Look what they did last summer. With the way they played at the end of the year once they were healthy, I could see them loading up again. They really need to make the playoffs.

I agree 100% there.

But I'd rather have Bouchard+Bokk or Farabee+Woo (for example) than just Zadina.

I'd be more open to trading up next year if we think somebody is definitely the franchise 1C, because we already have a bunch of good but not elite centers.

I see the draft as being similar to a game. You can't ignore quality nor can you ignore your own system, but you still want more shots on net than the other guy.
