Kid can skate with anyone. I thought he’d look tiny but he doesn’t. Good showing here and he’ll go top 6 or so. For me he was the guy that would drop a bit. Size and being a lefty d. But definitely a great player.

Why do people keep saying bust as if anyone has remotely said he’s a bust? I don’t know one guy that has said he’s a bust. He was absolutely a reach and I don’t think for a second he’s a first line player but that doesn’t equal bust. No one thinks he’s pavel Brendl. You can go thru every one of my posts and I’ve been very critical of the pick but I’ve always stated I think he’s going to be a good player just not a great player and at 7 we needed a great player.

Classifying him as what? Based on every draft board and the player taken immediately after him he absolutely was a reach.

I said he’s a good player for sure. I don’t know anyone that thinks he’s going to be a great first line player. If you think so then I guess agree to disagree. For that matter though I don’t know of one person here that’s called him a bust.

The league would be nothing but great players if every team with a top 7 pick got a great player. That's just unrealistic.

But yeah, you never said he's a bust, you've been very consistent in thinking he was underwhelming for that draft slot but not a bad player to have overall.

Not picking the guy you preferred in the second tier of the 2017 draft ≠ reach. I don't know why those of you who make this argument don't understand that.

There were 6 guys in the top tier. The second tier went from 7 to the mid-teens. Some of you wanted Mittelstadt or Suzuki; the Rangers preferred Andersson. All three were in that next tier together; who you chose was simply a matter of personal preference.

You may well turn out to have been right in your own preference (though to this point, the facts don't support such a conclusion). But that still doesn't mean the pick was a reach.
