Beagle is probably the best locker room guy in the league with championship experience which gets undervalued here. He’s one of the best Pkers and face off men in the league as well who has size and can chip in offensively. Like I said I hate the contract, but he’s a great player to have here.

LOL pretty much this... reading this forum is hilarious how much some of you people really get involved with this, and is basically the reason I haven't posted on here in like 4 years

Yet over this 4 year period of time, the doom and gloom crowd has been proven right over and over and over again. So who is actually laughing at who? Worst team in the the NHL over 3 seasons.

Our problem isn’t bottom 6 grit, it’s scoring goals, and keeping them out. This helps nothing.

Jimbo has to have some sort of deal in mind....they've now loaded up with far too many third-fourth line types....they obviously didn't sign Roussel, Beagle and Schaller to play in the minors, so somebody has to be shipped out.

Biggest beneficiaries of these signings could be the Utica Comets...No more room for guys like Gaunce, Boucher and Leipsic....But with Beagle and Schaller being able to play center, surely this has to be the end of the line for Sutter.....hard to fathom all this if there isn't some major deals coming.

To be fair I'd enjoy the free alcohol at christmas parties too if I'd disillusioned myself into thinking the team I was building would be in the playoff race past Christmas.

Ya it’s funny when people post stuff like “c’mon guys, these deals aren’t that bad. We can always buy them out after two or three years.”

Like if you are even thinking about buying a contract out on the same day as it’s signed, you can’t ****ing argue that it’s not a terrible contract.

If Roussel were waived at the beginning of the coming season, would any team claim him on that contract?

Loading up on crap ahead of the next NHL expansion draft; that way you don't lose anybody of importance.:sarcasm:

On another note they showed the organizational depth chart with a total of 18 forward names as potentails and 10on defence. So ridiculous when they can't even figure out the direction or what Jim is doing.

I think people forget about the expansion draft in a couple years and if one of the two on the four year deals or both for that matter they can be exposed.
Would help securing our youth as well. The team needed some grit and they addressed that today so the kids don’t get rag dolled.
They are all bottom six depth as well so not taking spots from the kids that need to shine sooner rather then later.

The Oilers committed 4 million to two bottom six forwards, about 24 million less than what the Canucks just committed to THREE bottom six forwards. lmao.

a) they're not that good at drafting.

b) most of the drafting work is done by a large network of amateur scouts headed by Judd Brackett. Pro scouting is the work of Benning/Weisbrod/Green.

The amount of people who actually think a full time GM has time to be a amateur scout on top of a full time GM is absolutely ludicrous. Benning isn't a amateur scout, he doesn't have time to be an amateur scout. He doesn't run the draft table.

Benning is responsible for pro-scouting decisions. That's how we ended up with a bottom 6/bottom pairing full of absolute plugs. Which is completely par-for-the-course for someone who learned his management skills from Peter Chiarelli.

I would be happy if they were 2 or 3 year deals. But 4 years? Not sure how I feel. Certainly not happy.

When Maholtra signed his last deal with Vancouver there were plenty who pissed and moaned about paying a 4th line C to such a contract. Yet it turned out great. Hoping the Beagle signing can bring another such player. I will reserve judgement on these signings until I see how the off season shakes out. If Benning can get picks for some of our middling players this could all turn out to be a win.

But overall... ugh... Boring.

I don't think so.

These signings just solidify Sutter as our # 2 Center.

Lol....just realized that Beagle and Roussel got longer-term deals than Bozek, who signed with St. Louis. Nice work Jimbo!

Average players getting paid the league average, meh. Not much to quibble about other than maybe the term. 1 year over what I'd max out at, but workable. If they live up to their history, they'll get just over 10 goals and 30pts each.

Not something plan a parade around, but nothing to slit my wrists over either. I mean is anyone really that upset that there might not be room for Gaunce and Archibald this year, or that Jussi Jokinen and Nic Dowd won't be back instead?

Got to reach that salary cap floor somehow.

ok, just finished reading up on schaller and roussel.

taking off my cap management and roster management hats, these are three solid personalities. in isolation they'd each be decent adds for us. i have no idea why we need an entire line of these guys to replace dorsett but i expect them to have a positive cultural impact on the team.

And of those 18 forwards, how many could reasonably be expected to get 20 goals/50 points? Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson. Baertschi at a stretch?
