While it’s definitely over the top, his point isn’t entirely wrong.

Since 2010 all of the Cup winners (arguably not Pittsburgh, but lol Crosby and Malkin) have had teams that could play physical and tough. Bruins, Kings, Caps, and even Hawks all had tough guys. Not Brashears and Boogaards, but guys that played hard, played the body, etc.

Also why I’m leery of hopping on the Leafs bandwagon. Come playoff time they have gotten pushed around. Also how many cups has Tampa won in recent years?

It isn’t 1995, but come playoff time, toughness and physical play really ramps up.
I think everyone would agree that toughness is good. And frankly if there were somehow room on the roster I’d be happy for the Rangers to keep McQuaid around. I know he’s not a modern defender but he is no slouch and really would be a fine third pair defender for another year or two. I appreciate that’s not a popular opinion and there’s a roster crunch that’s not gonna get easier going forward. But I think a guy like McQuaid brings a lot to the team. More than a guy like McLeod for example. Who, while giving a great effort, his hands are just so shot he really isn’t an effective player.

Good thing I never said every player needs to be tough. I said teams need some players like that and that it still plays a role, despite it not being 1995. The misconstruation of comments on this board is frustrating.

Also check out the Hawks 2010 roster.

Ok, well then it's not a relevant comment. Because the person I was quoting got on Makar for being small. You can still have small players even if you need some physical guys, it's a non-issue.

Enough with the ADA nonsense. He's simply not that good. He's too small and it shows versus the top teams. Hopefully Gorton will acquire a couple of big, young, right handed defenseman at the deadline or via the draft with some puck moving ability and toughness. Something this team hasn't had in forever.

ADA, unfortunately, reminds me of MDZ ... lots of offensive skill but all of it never really comes together. His defense, while better than in prior years, is not good enough to earn the trust of the coaches

Rykov just got an assist on 5 on 3 PP for Sochi!

3rd period in their home game against Salavat. Rykov was getting about 30 sec toward the end of the 2-man advantage. Had a couple of shot attempts first, faked another one and passed across to his teammate near right side of the blue line for a one-timer with 1 or 2 second left on PP. 3:1 Sochi

Traktor won earlier today and now has 41 points in 41 game - 4 points clear of Red Star for the final playoff spot. Neft is falling further back and looking up Traktor is now only 7 points behind 7th spot (Torpedo NN) with two games in hand.

Virta was 1+1 tonight for Örebro. Nice to see him get rewarded for his hard work. Pushed the goalie and everything into the net for his goal, the goalie was furious for the goal counting and was eventually given a match penalty for rubbing his thumb and fingers in a gesture towards the refs indicating that they had taken a bribe (it feels comforting that @Amazing Kreiderman is in Vancouver. Otherwise I would have had my suspicions...).

Hahaha. Just wait to see what Kravtsov does tomorrow when he sees me.

That's a good story. I like that.

So I was talking to Ed Jovanovski yesterday to make plans to meet up before the game since he's joining me and he asked me if I am an undercover scout because people don't believe me when I say "no"

That's the point we've reached now huh. Half of you guys think I am a scout, the other half thinks I am a crazy stalker hahahaha

I think it would've been better if you answered "I can neither confirm or deny that"

Wow. Nice that he’ll probably have a decently long playoff run and get some really good coaching, but I hope he’s not stuck too deep in their depth chart
Shouldn't happen. He's a Top 4 guy even on the Knights roster. Arguably should be on the top pairing with Bouchard.

The only issue with Keane in London is that Bouchard, Boqvist and Keane are all rightys. I'm sure one of them will play their off side and it won't be an issue but a slight worry there.

Keane getting traded to London is good

They seem like they’re always pumping out quality defenseman so I’m hoping they can get their hands on Keane and start working with immediately
