I'm just saying I have never seen a NFL or NCAA football player out for more then a week maybe 2 in serious situations but never multiple months on a concussion. And IMO NFL hits are as hard as NHL so that's why I'm confused.

Sadly that's more an indictment on their medical teams, non-guaranteed contracts and the state of football not the actual seriousness of the concussions.

Yeah I definitely agree with this. I don’t care too much if they keep Jost on the top unit, but throw them out there for 2 minutes and just let em rip it up.

I think keeping Jost on the top-PP makes the most sense. The tight passing areas seem to be his bread and butter, plus having Girard on the PP1 seriously weakens PP2 in my opinion.

Yeah like I said I don’t mind either way who’s there between Jost/Girard, but keeping the top line out for 2 minutes should be the plan imo.

I still think I'd rather have Girard running his own pairing against third pairing competition. Move him up the lineup if it goes well.

Zads - EJ -- Tanks, just eat up 25-30 minutes a night with PK time included
Nemo - Barrie -- 5 on 5 threat, steady presence covering Barrie while he roams
Sam - Cole -- Utility pairing, split up for PK / PP time, the odd shift after a PP or PK concludes and someone else is tired, etc.

Once injuries hit, scramble them up. But there's no reason to put EJ in a defensive role and Girard against heavy competition yet.

Plus, the absolutely last thing I want is a Nemo - Cole pairing. Please no shutdown 3rd pairing defensive pairing against top competition.

I really don't like the Nemeth-Cole pairing either but I also don't want them in the top four. I say just take the kid gloves off and let Girard go. Play your four most talented defensemen the most.

They mix and match quite a bit though so I'm sure they'll all play with different D partners at some point. Even if Girard is on the bottom pairing, he'll probably still get his minutes.

You’ve never heard of a concussion lasting longer than 2 weeks which is what you consider a serious situation?

Are you sure you aren’t mixing a concussion up with like a blister or genital wart?

As was said above, if your only knowledge of concussions is from the NFL that’d make sense. They treat concussions in the worst possible way. By not treating them.

Yup, plenty of people take months to simply being able to become a functional person. I have a friend that had a concussions and it was just under a year to recover from a concussion, and even than it still affected her studies.

Is tonight's game not on center ice? It wasn't on the guide when I checked yesterday.

Timmins likely didn’t get much training in the offseason. He’s skating on his own but he’s not doing anything other than messing around. Expectations for his first pro year should be pretty low.

No GDT for tonight's game yet so posting this here:

This is as close as our regular season starting lineup as it can get, with probably the exception of Dries and/or Toninato.

So Toninato and Dries instead of Soderberg and Andrighetto. This will be great for everyone already panicking about our lack of secondary scoring.

So far, the games that have been on altitude have been available on game center, but the watch button wouldn’t pop up until about an hour before the mame. I would expect Game Center and center ice to have the same content.

As much as I want Timmins playing, I'd rather the Avs take as much time with ensuring our players are fully recovered from a concussion as possible before returning to the rink. Doesn't matter if it's a week or a season. End of story.

I only really started following NHL a couple seasons ago. At least more then a passing interest so yeah most my experience with concussions was with the NFL. I've never had 1 myself so I also cant speak from experience. Thanks for giving me the heads up as the longer it dragged out with Timmons the more I was asking myself "what the heck is going on".
