I'm 22, live in St. Louis. I've watched the Blues for as long as I can remember, but became a die-hard fan sometime in the early 2010s. I can't remember the last time I didn't watch a game. Played hockey since I was probably 7, stopped when I was 19. I played in one of those scrimmages between periods at a Blues game once, maybe one of you guys were in attendance that night! You were probably getting a beer or taking a piss, though. I've thought about getting back on the ice, but I haven't gotten around to it. Joined HF right as we signed Stastny in 2014.

There's not much that's really interesting about me to be honest. The Blues are really all I've got. I pretty much juggle work, school, gaming, music and hockey. I'm pretty boring. You guys seem to like most of my posts, though, so I've got that. Made a lot of the playoff avatars this year and it seemed like a lot of people liked them. If we win the Cup I fear you guys will force me to make them again next year.

I'm recklessly optimistic about the Blues, and probably about life in general. The Blues winning the Cup this year would probably be the best moment of my life up to then, and that would be fine with me. I've wondered what it would be like heading into a season having won a Cup in the past. Would it feel the same? Would the same desire be there? Would I be okay with never getting another one as long as we got just one in my lifetime? There's something about being a fan of a team that's never won a championship. It's all I've known. I guess I worry that the same spark might not be there if we win a Cup. It's the thrill of the chase that gets me. It's why if I ever became a baseball fan I simply could not cheer for the Cardinals. Cardinals fans just can't relate to those who are solely Blues fans.

Anyways, yeah. That's about it.

Wanna hear a joke? Knock knock. Who's there? The team that finished 2nd. The team that finished 2nd who? Exactly.

Let's go win a goddamn Cup.

I will say, aside from the years of failure, the hardest part of being a blues fan for me is having the exact (a one letter difference but it doesn’t change the pronunciation) same name of a player who’s not exactly liked by Blues fans. Always makes for interesting conversation lol

It's all good. We're all Blues fans here, PK Subbahn.

Good Morning. I am Frenzy31, formerly Frenzy1. When everything here got switched over, I wound up changing my name.

I live in Ohio and started taking a real interest in hockey in 1989 when I started going to my high school games. Fell in love with the Blues watching them play the Leafs on Hockey night in Canada. Hull and Oates at the time. I used to read the sports section and followed the team there, back when we had something call the newspaper.

In 2003 I found this board and really got into prospects. Was and still am a regular and the prospects tournament in Traverse City. I have seen many of our kids play there from Belle to Thomas.

I am no where near as active as I was 5 years ago and I am not as dialed in into researching prospects. Kids will do that to you. I have a signed Petro military night jersey as my favorite Jersey, it is hanging in my office.

I have been to far more away games due to living in Toledo. I now see them, play live 2 per year. And I have been to only one game in St. Louis, 2016 run against the Stars. But I am going to game 4 of the Stanley cup. It will wipe off an item on my bucket list.

I don’t post a lot in the game day threads because I can’t multi task. And I did my first game day thread this past season, we lost so I won’t do that again.

Go Blues.

My name is Chris. This is by far the weirdest hockey season I’ve seen unfold. I truthfully think the Blues were a week or two away from making a big shakeup trade.

I’ve liked hockey since around the age of 5 (1980). Televised games were very rare but I’d watch some games on an old black & white tv on a cart with wheels, with broken knobs. Channel locks were how the channels were changed. I didn’t keep up with hockey stats or follow the players careers until I was around 12 or 13 when we got cable tv.

My first live hockey game was when I was around 10. My Dad got free tickets through his job. My Dad, cousin, brother, and myself sat in the 4th row and none of us had ever been to a hockey game. I remember more about the atmosphere than what happened in the actual game. It seemed like every guy around us was wearing ties, drinking a ton, and yelling at the refs. It was a lot different from the atmosphere at games now. I don’t remember any women or kids there.

I moved and made new friends at the age of 13. They were definitely into hockey and some played. I never tried to play. I didn’t ice skate until I was 18 or 19. Baseball was my passion and the only real sport I played. There was more games on cable tv by this time but far from 82 a year. I was really hooked around this time ‘88, ‘89. I had and played Blades of Steel but it didn’t capture the sense of hockey to me. The first hockey game I ever played and really liked a lot was ‘93 hockey. This was followed by my all time favorite hockey game ‘94 Hockey, on Sega. Sega later released ‘95 Hockey and completely ruined the game for me because of the skating.

Like a lot of Blues fans I’ve had the disappointment of watching them get bounced every year in the playoffs. When this Blues team was assembled in the offseason I felt it was the deepest Blues roster I had ever seen but I really didn’t think they had enough high end skill to reach the finals. I’m glad to eat crow on my thoughts.

I still don’t know really how to feel because this is something I’ve never experienced. Nobody knows how the finals will turn out, especially the so called “experts” who have a ridiculously bad track record. However the finals go it feels like a win for this Blues fan. I hope the Blues finish this crazy season with one more series win. I don’t doubt this Blues team can play with any team in the league but I have no predictions. I’ll simply enjoy the games and will be at at least one home game. I’d probably rather be at a game 6 than 3 or 4. I’ll be waiting until after the first 2 games before buying any tickets.

It is really nice to see the team getting so much love from around the city.

Let’s Go Blues!!

Yes! NHL 94 is the GOAT, and also a complete game-changer. That music is classic. The later Blades of Steel 99 on N64 was good also, with Jagr and his mullet on the cover.

I've been living and dying (mostly dying) by the Blues since the early '90's. I was born and raised in rural central Pennsylvania so I paid attention to the Flyers in the '80s, but we weren't close enough to Philly for them to feel like my "home" team. I was also a huge baseball fan and when I was really young my family took a vacation to Johnson City, Tennessee. I saw Danny Cox pitch a no-hitter for the Johnson City Cardinals, so I became a hardcore Cards fan (how's that for a Cardinals deep cut?)

When I moved away for college, hockey took over as my sports obsession. Because of the Cardinals and the fact that I was dating a girl from Springfield, MO, I was probably predisposed to become a Blues fan. But I also just loved those teams of the early to mid-90's, especially the blue-collar guys and the pests with some skill. The Conroy-Pellerin-Atcheynum line. Geoff Courtnall. Jeff Finley. And if I'm being honest, it was probably my burning hatred for the Red Wings that cemented my fandom. The way the Blues scratched and clawed against them just won me over. My best friend and I watched the famous Wings game at our favorite pizza place for 4 hours until they closed after the 1st overtime and kicked us out. We raced down the street to find a bar that had the game on TV and found one just in time to see Stevie Y wind up... and that's probably when I became a Blues fan for life.

I don't think it means I'm a masochist -- I just wanted to see the hard-working guys who might have a little less superstar talent win the big one through a combination of superior teamwork and brotherhood. That's something that has made this run so special -- this team still fits that model.

I've been in the Triangle area of NC for almost 20 years now, and enjoy when the Hurricanes do well. I root for them to be successful so that we'll continue to have an NHL team in the area so I can go to games. The dream scenario of a Blues-Canes Final was so close this year. Although I'll admit I felt a deep sense of relief in my wallet when the Canes got knocked out.

Thanks for reading -- it's always a pain to try to explain to people why I'm a Blues fan, they just assume I'm from STL. I'm pretty extroverted IRL but cautious & introverted online, so like many others I've been reading almost everything on this board for a while and learn a lot from you all. It even helps my own playing sometimes. :)

Glad to be here for whatever happens in the next couple of weeks. Let's Go Blues!

Note Worthy. Formerly Canjis McBasketball, Indoor Living, Iron Fist, Heisen Backes, Boombox Generation and...that’s all I could think of. Lol

I’ve been a Blues fan for as long as I can remember and I’m 30 years old. I have a young son who is catching the Blues fever but he’s only 2 so he doesn’t really know what’s going on lol. I live in Arnold (JeffCo baby!).

I was on the Blues website forum for a while with a few others here before it was shut down. After they shut that down in 2011 I moved over here to HF. It’s awesome seeing a lot of the old gang back in this thread.

This Stanley Cup run has been unbelievable and it’s hard to describe how exciting it is. It can’t end here. We have to get that Cup.

LGB.

Wasn’t there a fan that started following in the 2016 WCF from the UK that had never even seen hockey before but somehow became a blues fan? I believe it was a woman? Or did I just make that up in my head lol.

That is so cool! I lived in neighboring Oakville On when I was a kid. (Left in 1975 when I was 13). My dad would take my brothers and I to the old Oakville Arena to watch the Oakville Oaks OHL team. Btw, I really enjoy and appreciate your Junior Hockey updates!

Wow what a small world.

Thanks for the kind words Simon. I always enjoy reading your input as well, especially your appreciation for defensibly responsible players with size.

I actually have 3 kids and a business that all require attention, and I also can personally relate to “tough times” like a few other posters had mentioned they have experienced, so I unfortunately don’t really see a lot of OHL games anymore (although I made time on several occasions during last year’s playoffs for Hamilton because of Thomas). I think I only went to 3 games this year (saw Guelph and Toro twice. I think you will like this player). But in my heyday, I was all over the place.

I will, however, make sure that I catch (Burlington’s ) Shane Wright a few times when he comes to the area over the next few years with Kingston

Bought a TV for the workplace and am watching Game 1 tomorrow night with a few of my employees. Going to be a special night
