Last year Winnipeg wasn't even making the playoff predications and now we are...

Its weird...

Having a good team that is recognized by other fans...

I will make some picks closer to the beginning of the season...

LOOK HOW LONG IT TOOK WASHINGTON...

EASIER SAID THEN DONE...

THATS THE NHL...

curious why a lot of people are picking SJ at top this year where as last season it seemed like the general consensus was that SJ wasn't a top caliber team anymore

It’s still too early for this but hey:

Atlantic

1.Tampa Bay
2.Toronto
3.Boston
4.Florida
5.Montreal
6.Detroit
7.Buffalo
8.Ottawa

For all the hoopla north of the border, the best team in the division (and league) is still down south. I feel this is the “easiest” division to pick and I didn’t feel that strong about it after 4.

Metropolitan
1.Pittsburgh
2.Washington
3.Columbus
4.Philadelphia
5.Carolina
6.New Jersey
7.New York Rangers
8.New York Islanders

I thought Washington overachieved and they’ll have a bit of a hangover and cost them the division. Debated back and forth on Jersey and Carolina for the final playoff spot in the East

Central
1.Winnipeg
2.St. Louis
3.Nashville
4.Dallas
5.Colorado
6.Minnesota
7.Chicago

Man the Central is insane. Gave the edge to Winnipeg based on goaltending but if Jake Allen plays decently, in my (admittedly biased) opinion, St. Louis has the deepest roster.

Pacific
1.San Jose
2.Vegas
3.Anaheim
4.Los Angeles
5.Edmonton
6.Calgary
7.Arizona
8.Vancouver

So like every single year, I pick Anaheim to win the Pacific and go deep in the playoffs. I’m intentionally going out of my way to not pick them....but they still make it in.

Eastern Conference Playoffs

1. Tampa Bay over WC2 Carolina in 5
2. Toronto over 3. Boston in 7

1. Pittsburgh over WC1. Philadelphia in 7
3. Columbus over 2. Washington in 6

1. Tampa Bay over 2. Toronto in 7
1. Pittsburgh over 3. Columbus in 6

1. Tampa Bay over 1. Pittsburgh in 6

Western Conference Playoffs

1. Winnipeg over WC2. Dallas in 4
2. St. Louis over 3. Nashville in 7

1. San Jose over WC1. Los Angeles in 6
2. Vegas over 3. Anaheim in 5

1. Winnipeg over 2. St. Louis in 7
2. Vegas over 1. San Jose in 6

Stanley Cup Finals

The Tampa Bay Lightning win the cup defeating the Winnipeg Jets in 6 games

I'm bullish on Florida (Barkov-Trocheck-Dadonov-Ekblad-Huberdeau, too much talent) and the Lou (like their moves for Bozak and RoR).

The Pacific was the only difficult one because you've got San Jose and Vegas but after that, Anaheim and LA could surprise and Calgary is good but are they good enough?

The rest of the divisions have pretty clearly demarcated lines between who is good, who is mediocre and who is bad.

Think you're giving out points too freely. I can't see Calgary missing with 97 and Philly with 98.

Two close to very good teams beset by bad circumstances, Philly being in a tough division and Calgary being in a poor one, but in the same conference as the Central which has potentially four teams fighting for the two wildcards, Winnipeg and Nashville being locks.

The Flames have a lot better forward roster, and Edmonton shouldn't underperform like it did last year. Though you can argue its the weakest division in the league (either them or the Atlantic).
It's definitely the Pacific. Hands down.

I'd actually be happy to see this, but I still wouldn't bet on it. Not yet.

Blues finally beat Yzerman, and Ryan O’Reilly scores the game winner, which causes Buffalo to riot and have a complete meltdown.

If Tampa gets Karlsson, forget about Toronto keeping up with them, or any team in the league for that matter. Florida too good to be out of playoffs. I think Dahlin makes a big impact in his rookie year.

I think people are sleeping on Anaheim. I think calgary squeaks by LA. Arizona has some nice young pieces but they are a victim of the budget. Edmonton 16-17 season reminds me of Colorado's 13-14 season, fans must be patient.

Didn't go too far off the board here. Dallas ranking subject to change if they acquire Karlsson or the bread man.

Updating standings based on offseason and me just changing my mind:

Pacific:
1. Sharks
2. Flames (yes, I'm being bold and probably gonna regret it like I do every f***ing year).
3. Knights
4. Oilers
5. Kings
6. Coyotes
7. Ducks
8. Canucks

Central:
1. Jets
2. Preds
3. Blues (would have you higher, but goaltending is still an issue for me).
4. Stars
5. Blackhawks
6. Aves
7. Wild

Metro:

1. Penguins
2. Caps
3. Blue Jackets
4. Hurricanes
5. Devils
6. Flyers
7. Islanders (OOF how wrong was I about Lou being your saviour. Least I didn't explicitly mention Tavares like I was about to).
8. Rangers

Atlantic:
1. Lightning
2. Leafs (I know you f***ers want to be #1, but that defense needs to get better. And no, losing JVR and Bosak isn't not going to mean nothing either).
3. Panthers
4. Bruins
5. Sabres
6. Red Wings
7. Habs (don't know what I was thinking placing you guys at five... you guys are probably gonna suck next year)
8. Sens (yes, you guys are still last btw).

Something interesting and random I've noticed is that ever since the 2013 division realignment, 5-7 new teams have made the playoffs every year.

1. Toronto
2. Tampa Bay
3. Boston
4. Florida (WC)
5. Buffalo
6. Detroit
7. Montreal
8. Ottawa

Metro:

The odds of only 2 teams finishing under 82 points, with one of them being 81 is very slim. You will need alot of OT games to have this happen. Just to put it in perspective using my Islanders we had 81 points last year and finished 10th last
