I wouldn't mind Montreal winning and getting WC1. We still have to pay them back.

Both the Habs and Canes are going to be doing all they can to avoid that last wildcard spot. Nobody in their right mind wants to play the Bolts.
Habs have the tougher schedule and Canes have a game in hand - but the Canes play us twice and considering we may see them in the 1st round that could be very interesting.
Blue Jackets seem to be like a deer in the headlights - i actually think we're better off not seeing them in the playoffs anyway, because if they figure it out they have a lot of talent on that team.

Wouldn't surprise me if Pittsburgh ends up taking the division. They have a warm butter soft schedule left: two games vs the Rangers, two vs Detroit, one vs a vastly overrated and underperforming Nashville team, and one vs Carolina. They should go 4-1-1, at worst.

So the last 6 games really shows how tough of a schedule we have.

No more back to backs but

vs Carolina
at Carolina
at Tampa Bay
at Florida
vs Montreal
vs New York Islanders

Caps 76 games 96 points
Isles 76 games 95 points
Pens 76 games 93 points
Canes 75 games 91 points
Habs 76 games 88 points

Gonna be a wild ride

Edit: Islanders game is at Washington

It's pretty likely that final game will decide the Metro. Hard to see either team with a 3 pt lead at that point but it would be nice.

Assuming the Caps play at 85% potential, I think we split the games vs the sugarcanes, going to be positive and say we win against the Dolts (the last 2 games have been close), win against FL, Habs, and Aisles (this game could be for all the metro marbles or a push because everyone is seeded).

So if they're no more sleepy games like against Timbertrees, then we can go 5-1, or 4-1-1, maybe even 4-2.

If PP continues to suck, Ovi is standing around, pizzas are being continually delivered, then I think it's 3-3 or 3-2-1 at worst.

I think the sugarcane games will be most predictive on how the others fall into place.

I just saw the other day the Pens play the Rangers and Wings twice, they could quite easily win the Metro with that schedule.

It's getting easier to model now. Caps(96 pts) up by 1 on Aisles(95) and by 3 vs Pens (93). All three teams have 6 games left, 12 pts max. If the Caps pick up 9 pts (4-1-1) that puts them at 105. Pens would need to go 6-0 just to get into tiebreakers with Caps, which I believe they would win. If the Caps go 3-1-2 (8 pts) then the Pens could go 5-0-1 to tie us. If the Pens lose even one game in regulation, they tie us if we only get 7 pts (3-2-1). Obviously with the Aisle only 1 game back its easier to see them getting the Metro than the Pens. The Pens margin for error is approaching nil, but somehow I don't think they really even give a crap about the Metro, they've won a few Cups without winning the division that year including their last two.

Bottom line is its going to be a fun 2 weeks, and then the real fun begins.

My prediction:

Aisles, 4-2, 8 pts, 103 total.
Pens 5-1, 10 pts, 103 total
Canes 4-3, 8 pts, 99 total
Caps 3-2-1, 7 pts, 103 total

Tiebreakers, for $1000, Alex!

Much like the players on their team. I don't see them winning all those games. Consider the Pens might take those last 2-3 games lightly and rest some ailing players and players on the Rags and Wings will be playing to impress and win roster spots.

I'm really posi today. wth? I guess it's better than whining about Wilson's contract or Oshie the Albtross. Can we still trade them tomorrow?

If I'm putting the cart before the horse and looking for tough matchups around the east I much prefer CBJ in over MTL.

I have 0 faith MTL can give anything resembling a fight to TBL, at the very least CBJ has the the talent that if they finally clicked would be a craw in the gears of TBL.

TOR-BOS would be a nice bloodfest

PIT-NYI would also

I much prefer CAR over all other options for us because even though they're super hot right now they have 0 team playoff experience and a rookie coach. A team like Pitt knows how to play playoff hockey, they will be at tough out regardless.

I think Tampa will walk over Columbus in a Playoff series. That could get dirty, though.

Columbus should have kicked Tortorella out way before even thinking about going all-in.

MTL is scarier than CBJ simply because Carey Price has the ability to steal games. Bobrovsky has checked out.

Didn't the Tampanitos breeze through the first 2 rounds last year and have a week off before they faced the Caps and lose 2 straight. Let's do that again.

I think having 2 tough matchups helped us against the Tampanites last year

Yes, and the Devils beat the Bolts in the regular 3 straight, but the Bolts beat the Devils in the Poffs 4-1. They lost 3 out of 4 to Boston then beat them 4-1 also. Regular season matchups mean little.
