I really thought with Zaitsev current play people wouldn't be so dismissive of him. But also keep in mind Dubas actually said he was going to call up Liljegren but then he got injured.
I want Sandin to play one more year in the AHL, and I'm excited to see how he does in the World Juniors as the go-to Dman.

2020-21 season I would like to see both Sandin - Liljegren promoted together after playing a full year together in the AHL.

Much better to be trading a player who is performing well rather than one you want to get rid of. It's also much better to have legit prospects pushing for future jobs. We'll cross that bridge in the summer.

Is Joseph Woll with the team right now?

That would be some amazing experience for the kid.

Yeah, that’s where I tend to agree.

Rielly and Dermott can do it, play the right side, but i’m not sure it maximizes their talents. Same goes for Rosen, I believe he’s played some on the right side.

I’m not sure I see a move involving Zaitsev, either, and there’s still Oz, and FA Kaski (not specifically linked to the Leafs but makes a whole lot of sense).

Not to mention that running a D with so little experience would be risky in this market.

Best part is, it’s getting to be a good problem to have. That’s for sure.
Trade a young left d for a young right d

Jesus, did anybody see Sandin's TOI for the 1st playoff game?

Apparently he played about 27 minutes and Keefe benched him for the last 4 minutes because he didn't want to run the score up on the PP

I thought he was a fair pick in the late 20's, but he's surpassed any expectations I had for his D+1 year in a men's league

I was worried about his speed but he proved me wrong tenfold. He's not the fastest but his skating agility is damn good to make up for it. His skill level is through the roof.

Him and Liljegren really gives the Leafs very good options in the near future.

Yup, he's a blue chip. Better numbers than Brannstrom at the same age, while playing top pairing minutes.

Brannstrom just oozes potential and I'd take him over Sandin today, but yeah I'm not sure there's a single defensive prospect in the world that had a better season than Sandin this year.

I'd honestly be interested to see a list of defensive prospects that have ever had a better D+1 season (outside of the NHL).

Not going to lie, I was really disappointed when Tampa took Foote but I'm pleased with how things turned out

Eh Foote was over Liljegren, I was talking about Sandin.

But I'm just as pleased at how it turned out - Liljegren is looking like a legit two-way stud.

I'd take him over Sandin also, but I don't think the gap is very big. Brannstrom is talked about all over this board, the only people that talk about Sandin are Leafs fans. It's weird but I'm ok with it. Only Leafs fans talked about Dermott, and then people were wondering who this kid was who was looking good in the NHL.

Yeah, for whatever reason (Leafs) both Sandin and Liljegren are completely overlooked on this board (Leafs) and people just either forget they exist (Leafs), or they just believe their "issues" (Leafs) will prevent them from being anything significant in the NHL.

Both are probably Top-10 defensive prospects in the league today.

Your right, got my years mixed up. Honestly in 2018 I didn't really see anyone I liked

If I'm remembering correctly, I think the only guys I had left above Sandin when we picked were Joseph Veleno, Calen Addison, and Akil Thomas. But I definitely was happy when we picked him.

I was more mad when Thomas went a pick before Durzi and Addison went the pick after. Although it got us Muzzin, I'd love to have Addison/Thomas in our pool as well.

Sandin getting a lot of ice time is not a surprise. He has been playing 26+ minutes for some time now. The same thing with Lilly.
Where did you see that he played 27 minutes?

Sandin and Liljegren should both be on the team next year.

I'd imagine Gardiner and Hainsey will be gone and potentially Zaitsev.

Rielly - Dermott (Dermott has shown he can play the right side. Put him with our best defenceman).
Muzzin - Liljegren (the steady vet with the rookie that shockingly has developed into more of a two way defenseman than an offensive defenceman)
Sandin - 'Steady Veteran' (Ennis type signing)
Rosen

Lake Erie putting a Columbus-like beatdown on Syracuse. It will sting that much more if Syracuse is swept out of the first round by the team that didn't even make it in the playoffs until they beat us in the last game of the season, and the affiliate of the parent team that did it to their parent team.

Up 2-0 in the series after a pair of 5 goal efforts...

If all things go well, we could have the Leafs affiliate up against the Columbus affiliate while the Leafs go up against Columbus... With both beating a higher seed to get there. That would be something.

It's in the Sandin thread on the prospects board, playing a ton during the regular season is one thing, eating those sorts of minutes during the playoffs is another thing entirely, especially with more experienced D on that Marlies team

Thanks. It is pretty amazing Sandin is getting that kind of ice time in big moments.
