We could always trade Marner when he is at the top of his game and replace him with Bracco.

What would we get, I dunno, but might be a good bundle of ELC talent.

I think Marner is the third best player on the team, but we have a real good replacement for him and imagine the assets we could garner, for marner.

Get it, garner for marner. And does anyone want to see another holdout? Cause for sure, he deserves a lot more than what Nylander or Matthews are making.

Really. Wow

He won't hold out like little Willy

He will get close to Mathews number and he will be our captain.
You don't trade players like Marner .

Exactly. $11.16m on an eight year deal is a lock.

He won't get close to Matthews' number unless he takes 8 years, and even then it'll be at least 500k lower.

Only on the leafs board posters want to trade arguably our best offensive player and the guy who plays with the most drive and determination so we can replace him with a 22 year old forward who hasn’t done anything at the nhl level yet.

Edmonton won a Cup without Gretzky first attempt I made. But insiders knew, he was a great player, but Messier was the true leader on that team. And then Messier traded him to New York, not such a great move.

Its all about what you get back.

This new cap world really bites the Leafs more than just about anyone. We could always buy our way into the playoffs, now we have to be smart.

And smart would be to trade Marner and garner, cause we actually do have a guy who might be close to being as good as him, in Bracco.

Well I wouldn't trade marner to garner! I would dine him and sign him. ;) get it

Isn't it like one guy?

Common sense.

Great non answer. He did everything that was asked of him, he deserves a legit shot especially with the cap crunch. If Kadri goes in a trade for a dman there are no other 2 way shutdown centermen in the pipeline right now outside of Macgregor who is a few years away from being NHL ready.

Its like the people saying we could trade Nylander or Matthews and still be as good. They're crazy and wrong.

I do think Bracco can be successful (see Marchessault) but he'll likely never be higher than 3rd on that RW depth chart. 4th if Kappy signs a bridge 2-3 year deal.

Can the Marlies still send down a bunch of guys to help the Growlers out? The Marlies roster is huge and I'd like to see the Growlers make a push for a championship.

Gordeev is moving onto the Western Conference Finals after Guelph storms back from a 3-0 series deficit to win it in Game 7.

London must be embarrassed, and the majority of the OHL must be elated (because pretty much everyone hates London).

Gordeev with only 1pt (Durzi with 9pts in 10gms). I really wish we could have kept him. Born and raised Toronto fan

Different types of players. Durzi is better but we don't get Muzzin without him. I'm 100% fine with letting him go with Duszak, Hollowell and Lindgren being of the similar mold anyways.

Pretty interesting really...I wonder who ends up the best of the bunch....I’d put even odds almost on any of those 4.
I’d prolly bet a loonie on Lindgren.

Lindgren us ahead of the other two by a mile right now but if one of them turns into something effective at the NHL level then thats a big win for the club.

As I recall, this year's team actually performed better sans Nylander. IMO, trading Nylander for a left wing upgrade or an upgrade on defense and moving Bracco into a right wing slot would at improve the team as a whole.

LW is an issue but so is RD and it's probably a bigger need. We could probably add a LW at the deadline.

The team having a better record without Nylander means absolutely nothing. You can create a narrative though.
Bracco has done nothing in the NHL, and there is no guarantee he will.

Pittsburgh were doing better without Crosby in the playoffs. They should trade him.

Incorrect. Below is our rolling xG on the season with the red line being when Nylander played his first game.

Our two best stretches of play during the season were late Dec/Jan and March. If you remember what happened in March it was Nylander + Matthews playing together consistantly and Matty playing his best hockey of the year.
