I wish someone would have taken a video of my reaction to the Martinez goal. I was standing pacing in the living room most of the game and for sure all of the OTs. When he scored I remember throwing my hat and running around like a mad child. Was a great feeling. My wife still makes fun of me but I would love to do that again.

In case anyone is curious, Corey Pronman of the Athletic is counting down his top prospect pools in the NHL. Kings will be top 10 on his list: Pronman: 2018-19 NHL farm system rankings

Pretty impressive how much of a difference Blake has made with the prospect depth and quality in about 16 months.
I'm still not sold on if this is Blake taking the team down a path that was already laid out, or if this is Blake creating the path and taking the team down it. Either way I am excited about the players coming up.

I might be in the minority but the 2014 was a lot more satisfying to me than 2012. The lack of adversity made it a bit anti climactic.
While it was fun, I still think 2014 was a lot more rewarding

Dude it was our first cup, nothing will ever top that , check back in in forty plus years like a lot f us waited, thousands of dollars, hundreds if not thousands of games , lol new people

Dang, just saw this, posted about the same thing in the prospects thread.

Was pretty shocked to see those results as well. Philly fans are losing their minds over it.

Pronman must think quite highly of Vilardi, Anderson-Dolan, Kupari, Petersen, Thomas, Clague and Brickley.

It helps that for the past two years we've been hitting on both our first and second round picks. Both Anderson-Dolan and Thomas were considered first round material.

I know Clague stock has been shooting up every year since we drafted him.

Petersen was consider a top flight goalie prospect when we got him.

and Brickley was one of the top NCAA FA d-men available.

Its amazing what a few good pick-ups can do.

I'm not new tho. Steam rolling everyone didn't cause any adversity. You knew they were going to win so when they did it was kind of less exciting for me.

I explained it well enough in my last post, if you read it thoroughly then you wouldn't have said that.

If this continues, Kings will have a solid farm and a solid team for years. That'd be a welcomed sight.

They shouldn't be, it doesn't change anything. It's just one man's opinion, that's all. If you take a broad view, post the rankings of other columnist's opinions (dobbler, ESPN, Sporting news, NBCsports, etc.) Flyers are ranked 1 or 2 or close to the top. So it's just a matter of what criteria each author uses.

That change of philosophy that cost DL his job, and opened the door for the new regime, is on the way to paving a solid path for the future. Drafting well and signing kids from college, is the building blocks a team needs to become a top team. And so far, they've done very well.

I'm sure the kings rating is improved from the ranking of two of our players being in the top 50 from anther person at the Atlantic just a few weeks ago.

I was doing the exact same thing and my wife was filming me for her Facebook. She saw the whole thing. I think I did jazz hands same times as him, said jazz hands! and then f*** New York!

I think that's the most important thing.

I will say I appreciate Pronman vocalizing his criteria and I'm sure there will be more. I also tend to agree with him upon reading; he places so much emphasis on top-end talent. Because really, how many bottom sixers and bottom pairing guys do you need? It's great to have 10 in the system, but they're not all going to play, and if you don't have guys to replace the top guys, it's all pointless anyway.

I was watching Iginla highlights and just can’t get enough of his response in that Calgary game when Engelland checked and pushed Kopitar.

The league is changing and is faster and enforcers are gone but Kings have two investments in Kopitar and Doughty. Both have been taken out by Reaves and Tkachuk.

Nolan, Iginla, and Andreoff are gone now. Let’s see how the team responds to incidents like this from now on.

Ducks let a lot of toughness go but still have Manson and Ritchie. Vegas has Reaves, Engelland, and Carrier. Sharks have Dillion and Kane. So the Kings rivals haven’t gotten softer. Arizona has no one though. They will try the run and gun game. Edmonton has Lucic, Kassian and Nurse. Vancouver has Rousell, Gudbranson, and Schaller.

Andreoff is hardly a deterrent, and Jordan Nolan also looked disinterested in engaging in much of the physical activities in his last couple of seasons here.

It's up to MacDermid and Clifford to handle that stuff.

Lombardi path was in total denial of the right path to take. We'd be in worse shape today if Lomardi/Sutter combo were still in charge, much worse. Blake gave the young guys a chance to see what they got, and now has a good feel to what type of team he has to work with going forward.

Did we? Kings fans have seen countless collapses over 40 years.

I wasn't totally relaxed until it was 6-1 with around 6 minutes to go.

No one was comfortable in the stands and I didn't think it was worth arguing but after losing game 4 and 5 anything could have happened and as kings fans we were kinda expecting it lol

I remember walking around the concourse at the end of the first being up 3-0 and thinking “this is amazing!! God please don’t mess this up.....”

I only felt confident playing the Rangers in ‘14. After the 3 other series I felt like no way they could come that far and lose.

You must of not been following the Kings long before 2012. Any true fan at that point never 'knew they were going to win' until maybe the last couple min of the 3rd period in game 6.

We also have Phaneuf and Thompson who are very much willing to go.

With Thompson, Phaneuf, Clifford, and possibly MacDermid in the line-up there is literally no reason to be worried about toughness.

I kept thinking that it was some kind of positive sign that the Kings scored 3 goals on the major PP. They rarely score 2 goals on a major (once or twice a year?), but does anyone know if they've ever scored 3 in their history until gm 6?

I imagine it must have happened a few times when Gretzky was here, but I think I'd remember it.

Can't believe people still say the Kings didn't face adversity in 2012. Why? Because they led every series 3-0? Don't you have to overcome adversity to deliver that, too?

Their first two series that playoffs were against the teams with the two best records. They had switched coaches in November/December.

I understand liking 2014 over 2012 if that's your thing, but it's funny to think the 2014 team "overcame adversity" when they were expected to deliver by then. They had a cup and conference finals before. In 2012, nobody would have batted an eye if they lost or missed the playoffs altogether.
