I was going through some of the old Kings rosters and forgot about some of these players....Brian Willsie, Jamie Lundmark, Mikko Eloranta, Jamie Heward, Alyn McAuley. Then there are the other guys I remember like Nathan Lafayette, Jason Blake, Randy Robitaille, Jaroslav Bednar, Jon Sim and Esa Pirnes, among others. We've had some interesting players pass through during the years!

Circa 2005, I assumed Kopitar was pronounced "Kopit-ash" since that's how Bednar's name was pronounced.

Bingo. He actually did something similar when he was Sharks GM at the '98 draft.

The Sharks had the 2nd overall pick swapped picks with Nashville who had the 3rd pick. In exchange, the Sharks received the 29th pick. The Sharks dropped down to 3rd and selected Brad Stuart, and with the 29th pick they drafted Jonathan Cheechoo. Nashville would select David Legwand at 2nd overall.

Nevermind that trade, it was the one the next day the Kings and the Oilers made that was the real blockbuster.

Marty used to come to the Palm Springs area a lot back then. I remember seeing him have a beer or two at the Red Onion in the Town Center Mall. Matter of fact a lot of Kings used to come out to the desert during the off season and regular season.
