He should be in the bullpen next year. Carlos Ramirez is another player that could be good next year.

Yeah.

Obviously there's always the fungibility of bullpens in play, but the 2018 pen right now is off to a good start in terms of pieces

Osuna
Tepera
Leone
Barnes
Mayza
Ramirez

Basically you just have to fill a couple of spots in, barring any hard regression on the part of the above. Rowley's doing well as a starter now, but if he slips I wonder if he could be a flexible, medium-leverage RP and spot starter.

also, fwiw while I'll blow my own horn (and woodman's since we collaborated on trying to ID potential pen guys in the system last year) on Mayza, I will also admit that my overall track record from that group isn't great.

It was:
-Mayza
-Chad Girodo (doing ok-ish in Buffalo with some BABIP issues)
-Dustin Antolin (was released and ended up with the Nationals, where he is currently struggling, albeit with a bit of BABIP trouble)
-Brady Dragmire (was released by the Jays, then by the Nationals, and is now with the Rangers, doing pretty poorly in AAA)
-Starlyn Suriel (seemed like he was doing OK, but was released by the Jays prior to this season. Hasn't caught on elsewhere)

Though I guess for reliever and minor league volatility, 1/5 isn't all that bad.

You can't really blame you on the Suriel one. He was a really solid 5-3 with Lansing last year. The type of guy who wins you ball games. It really is shocking nobody wants a guy like that since the goal is to win ball games and all.

/Buck Martinez

I could hardly contain my facepalm when Buck went on that mini rant a little while back

Rays chose to avoid Donaldson in order to deal with Smoak.

Though I guess it's pretty much a poor choice either way.

What an outing by Leone man. Truly outstanding. He's going to end up with that win everyone covets, and because of that he really couldn't have done any better for himself and this team. Some glad he was in this game to get that win.

Pumped that our 59-62 record just "passed Baltimore" and their 59-62 record.

Now just waiting for Buck to compliment Leone's outing

Hunter was like "oh, oh, maybe he got under it, oh crap it's gone" all in a span of 2 seconds after Smoak hit that ball.

Wow they actually have chance at wildcard. I'm surprised after the type of season it's been.

RA Dickey's 3.89 ERA looks good vs most of he Jays staff.

Ouch.

That's low.
