I haven't followed this thread all the way through now, but can anyone really put full faith in USA hockey with the carousel of bad personnel decisions they have made in recent years?

Full disclaimer that as a Canadian I have little to no faith in Hockey Canada's approach to the WJCs

Yes, this team will be very, very good this year. Even our 4th liners have speed and skill. You'll be impressed with these guys this year.

How does our defense and goaltending look?

The goaltending will be solid I think. And as far as the D I've said this before, but I think they'll be better than some expect. Obviously not as strong as some years past but some of these guys have an underrated ability to defend well in their own end and no shortage of offensive talent from the blue line. Guys like Fox for example are known for his puck moving and elusiveness but I think he's a really under rated defender as well. He has a good stick and keeps himself in position and plays 1 on 1 situations really well. Fitzgerald and Charlie Mac will do just fine on the D side of things too.

I think our D group will surprise some people with their play.

If they want to compete for Gold they better

Charlie McAvoy will QB the PP, but the other point is to be determined.

They had Bellows there and I think they want a forward there so that Fox can be the QB of unit 2.

Why isn't Fox QB'ing the #1 PP unit instead of McAvoy? McAvoy has 13 points in 17 games, whereas Fox has 16 points in 11 games. I know McAvoy is the better player but it's hard to argue he's more dangerous on the PP than Fox

Toss up between McAvoy and Fox. Can't just look at points and say so and so should have it. When you watch them both play you can see they both have the skillset to do it. Over the course of the Latvia game you'll have a better evaluation of who might be the top qb guy.

McAvoy has the shot they want back there, but I'd prefer Fox myself. Just a smarter playmaker on the point. We have plenty of talent up front, you want a guy like Fox who can distribute.

Has that been confirmed? I think the starter's job is between Parsons and Woll.

"Parsons played the first exhibition game against Switzerland, while Woll took the entire second game, earning a shutout against the Czechs. Oettinger, who some have pegged as a potential first-round pick in this year’s draft, being the possible No. 3 goes to show just how deep Team USA is at this position this year. I maintain that all three would be a fine starter."

Not at all, my opinion was Oettinger. Looks like Peters thinks it is between Parsons and Woll as well. Pretty happy with US goaltending choices.

Too funny. I originally thought Oettinger was a no-brainer as the starter. Then Parsons played so well in CHL that I assumed he was the starter. Now, I have no idea. Nice problem to have.
