It will be very interesting to see Keller vs Harper on the international stage.

Who would you guys think the cuts will be?

Great to see Patrick Harper there..I think he could potentially have an impact similar to when Gaudreau was a relative unknown. Hoping to see that his play at BU hasn't been a fluke :handclap:

Cecconi is the biggest surprise for me, what does he do well?

Trying to find another "shutdown" guy with some size. Boka was bad at Summer Camp, and the other guys with size don't really play that role (Day, Greenway, etc.) and the defensive depth is really bad this year with Werenski and Hanifin in the NHL, Cal Foote sitting it out for Canada, and a guy like Krys plateauing at 16/17.

I'm surprised they didn't give Andrew Peeke a look, but I'm guessing they liked something they saw in Cecconi.

I don't like the defense, mainly the left side. USA Hockey is stuck with Krys on the team for this year and next because they picked him last year. He doesn't deserve to be on this team. I'm not the biggest Ahcan fan, Lindgren isn't bad, but I think there are better players. Cecconi doesn't belong. Its not the best crop of defensive players, given two are in the NHL, but I think some players like Day, Greenway, Dineen would've been better picks than some of the defenseman.

Bellows should not make it. Its one thing if you are Krys who was on the team last year and has had a poor season, you pretty much can't cut him. Bellows doesn't get a spot just because he's been projected to get one for almost a year. He's been much worse this season than others, and wasn't on the team last year.

They're not "stuck" with Krys because he was on a WJC team once where he barely touched the ice. They're stuck with him because the d-man talent and depth is poor in the '98/'99 age groups. If it were different, there's no reason to think they wouldn't leave him home like they have others before. The team would be better off with a better player in his place, but the only clear-cut players better than him either aren't eligible (Werenski, Hanifin) or don't want to play (Foote).

It's odd to say Lindgren "isn't bad" when he's one of the top d-men here, and deservedly so. He's much better right now than Day, Greenway, or Dineen. You can make a valid argument for a handful of d-men like those three to get looks at camp because after the Top 4/5 it's a real crap shoot, but they'd be just as big of unknowns or concerns as Ahcan or Krys.

Any past precedents for picking a player one year and then then not picking him the next? I would assume there are even less players who were picked as a draft eligible player and then weren't picked the next year or the year after that?

I think the obvious picks on the defense were Jones, McAvoy, Fitzgerald and Jones. You couldn't go right with the last two left sided defenseman, the 7th defenseman and the 8th defenseman. I don't know what some see in Lindgren. I watched him get outplayed by Greenway and Fox last season with the NTDP team many teams. Maybe its because he was the captain that he got the reputation that he did. While I think USA Hockey couldn't go right with the last few picks because the options weren't good, those wouldn't have been my defensive picks. I think this team will struggle defensively. Once Werenski stuck in the NHL, the team's defense took a big hit that I didn't think it could absorb.

Ryan Collins and Alex Tuch were both left off last year's team after having played the year before. It happens, most notably with Bobby Ryan.

You mentioned Jones twice in your top four, but I assume you meant Fox in one of those spots.

They picked Lindgren because he's a very good junior aged defensive defenseman, he's tough to play against, will log a lot of PK time, block shots, handles the puck fine despite not being an offensive guy, etc. He doesn't have the offensive skills of Greenway or Fox, but he's light years better defensively than anyone on the roster not named McAvoy or Jones. Greenway has talent, but not to beat out guys like McAvoy, Jones, or Lindgren for all-around roles, and he doesn't beat out guys like McAvoy, Fox, Fitzgerald, Ahcan, etc. in prime offensive roles either.

Greenway has a lot of raw ability, but he's not ready for this level just like his brother wasn't ready last year. Hopefully he takes the same leap next year because the team will need him to do so.

Today is December 5? Is it tomorrow?

And "December 6th" was from USA Hockey's web site.

Only USAH would think it's a good idea to tell people they're announcing the roster at 4PM ET multiple times, including just minutes before 4, only to drag it out over 40 minutes for suspense. The amount of viewers tuning into the NHL Network for the announcement is so minimal it's comical that they think this is doing anything worthwhile.

Yah that pretty funny to try n drag it out like that. Desperate for viewers.

I don't know so much if it's that people aren't high on Woll as it is all 3 goalies are pretty solid and somebody has to be the number 3 and there is a chance it is Woll. He could also win a spot.

Fair enough, I might be a little biased as a leafs fan lol but I would think he's got as good a chance as oettinger, parsons should take the 1 spot though he's been able to put up similar numbers to last year on a worse London team

Anyone have any thoughts on Tommy Novak from Minnesota not making the camp roster? Is he just not producing enough for consideration in a scoring role?

I too am surprised Novak isn't there. I thought he had a good summer camp, scored some goals there. He is my biggest omission IMO. The forward group looks good though.

No Bellows. 5 points in 14 games.

Bit of a rough start at BU, but his previous body of work has at least earned him a chance to impress at camp. He is a natural goal scorer and those are always in short supply. Obviously you would prefer someone going into the tourney on a hot streak, but 14 games isn't exactly a large sample size either.

I'd have to think they'd keep Harper-Keller-Greenway together bc they were playing well prior to the injury. Bracco-White-DeBrincat makes sense too. Boesser-Brown-Roslovic, Thompson-Kunin-Foley/Laczynski
