I didn't think it was possible but marrero may actually be their best VERY temporary solution at 3B after all

JBJ is gonna be fine. Playing in cold weather coming off of an injury will do that to the start of your season. Nice swing tonight

Velazquez is confirmed to be coming up and making a start FWIW. I think it was drellich but not sure, saw it briefly at work. I'm excited to see the guy- he doesn't have great stuff but he has a full arsenal of pitches and he throws them all for strikes. Does a good job keeping hitters off balance. I'm excited to see how he does in the pros, I think he can be a legitimate #5. Last scouting report I read on him has him able to reach back for 93 to get out of big spots after sitting 89-91 all game. He just sounds like he knows how to pitch- it certainly is nice to have a cerebral pitcher up for a quick chance instead of the usual nibblers and throwers. Hopefully the stuff can all grade out as average/fringe-average and we don't have a Sean O'Sullivan on our hands

confirmed

Bautista flips the bat while still losing by 4 in the bottom the 8th.
Pillar caught on camera saying a naughty word. Wonder if the MLB will pretend it didn't happen or rightfully suspend him.

I yearn for the old days when we taught kids to have thick skin and "sticks and stones may break my bones...etc.". As far as I'm concerned a guy can yell anything under the sun at someone during a sporting event or a fight and there should be no repercussions. I find it comical we'd draw the line at certain words yet we have no problem with throwing balls at guys, or hitting guys with their heads down, or any of the other myriad things athletes do that are often legal and ACTUALLY hurt, instead of simply run the risk of offending some small number of the fan base.

Just my opinion.

On a separate note, what's the over/under on the number of weeks Farrell lets Benintendi go 0-fer before he gives him a night off? Guy is hitless for like 2 weeks...wake up skipper.

Here's to hoping it won't be his decision to make for much longer.

No place for it imo. It's got nothing to do with thin skin. Racism and homophobia in sports is intolerable.

Davis is hitting just .100/.182/.250 with one home run and three RBI over the last seven days, and is posting a .401 OPS over the last 14 days. New Player Note Thu, May 18 Khris Davis went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the loss to the Mariners on Wednesday. Advice: Davis's slump is getting uglier; he's 7-for-58 with one homer and a 20/3 K/BB ratio this month. He has a .140 average in 26 games dating back to April 17.

This kid is really slumping.

It turns out if you throw 90 with fringy stuff you probably shouldn't live in the middle of the plate

I think trash talking is part of the game.

But there is always a line that can be crossed.

Thus:

once The line is crossed into actual slurs is when I have an issue

Exactly. When you go from name calling / trash talk to racial / homophic, etc, slurs, then the line is crossed.

It's not that Motte was "hurt" by the slur; it's that MLB shouldn't condone that sort of sentiment.

Sad thought of the day;

Even with the pitching staff in the state that it's in, I'm glad they traded Buchholz.
