Love these deals Shaw I doubt will ever be anything more than he is, don't know much about Cruz, Dubon or Pennington. Basabe could be a ways down the road he is a few years away, Kopech has potential to be very good if he can put his troubles behind him, Moncada though for some reason I don't feel he ever becomes what they say his potential is.

As for the players we got back Thornburg is a great bullpen addition and if we can get Smith back healthy that has the makings of a dominant BP. Kimbrell, Thornburg, Smith, Kelly, Bucholz, Ross JR, Wright, possibly Ziegler and/or Koji back wow!

The rotation holy cow if they stay healthy and pitch to their potential they will be the best rotation in the majors: Sale, Porcello, Price, Rodriquez, Pomeranz.

I love all of the moves DD has made today. We still have Devers, Grome, Sam Travis who is close to making it to the majors. I think Dalbec and Chatham made these move very easy for DD to make. They can progress slowly now and develop, we do not need them for 3-4 years.

Shaw, Moncada (1), Kopech (5), Basabe (7), Dubon (9), Diaz (21), Pennington (27) out
Sale and Thornburg in.

That is a win for Dombrowski and the Sox no matter how you want to spin it.

I get people love prospects, but in this case they were used EXACTLY for what they needed to be used for. Aside from Moncada and Kopech the rest of the lot were either blocked, or years away.

Exactly. Getting excited about prospects is fine, but if you can leverage that buzz about the prospect to get actual MLB players that can help today and not just maybe some point in the future, you do it.

Exactly, that's the thing. I've been reading people (on other sites) saying that the Sox system is bare now. No it's not. We had the best depth for a reason, to make deals like this.

Moncada is really the only one that stings to me. Kopech was SUPER intriguing but by all accounts (that I've seen online, anyway) was a real knucklehead. The 100 mph fb plays at the ML level, obviously, but they drafted Groome. That certainly softens the hit.

I would love to see Granderson on this team, he is the missing piece of the puzzle, great character guy, can play corner OF, DH if needed, can still hit and runs okay.
