Tampa would get a better offer than Muzzin+

Muzzin is coming off a career worst year, Kempe is overrated on this board if you ask me.

The first round pick is 11th in a weak draft.

I went to only 1 game this year and it was back in January when the Lightning came to town. Jonathan Drouin tore the Kings apart that day. All over the ice making plays and making our defense look silly. And I think that was a fraction of what he can do. Much rather Drouin than Kane for a variety of reasons

Drouin should be target 1 followed by Landeskog. Kane is an emergency with his contract with 1 year remaining and troubles off the ice. If the Kings do trade for Kane I expect it to be a very good deal for LA and a series of other moves still to come. You have 2 holes in the top 6, one can be solved with Drouin or Landeskog and the other can be solved with moving Carter to #1RW and signing a certain center for 2C. That would give the Kings the depth down the middle they want, in case of injury to Kopitar you would still have 2 solid options at center.

I agree. Teams from the Western Conference, some within the Pacific Division, with the same need as the Kings, can make a better offer on Drouin.

From what I have been reading on the Lightning board a Drouin trade is far from being a certainty as Yzerman has been quoted as saying he is going to re-sign all of his RFAs.

I agree on Kempe and would have no issue with him being part of a package for Drouin. I think Kempe will be good just not as good as some think.

Evander seems much more realistic. I have been pushing for Kane for a while, I think the cost would be low, however he was more appealing to me last year with one more year on his deal.

I think Kane is the more realistic option as well.

I don't think Blake should trade for a rental, but he would have more bargaining power going after Kane.

After what we've gone through the past 3 seasons why the hell would you want another rental player.

Stevie Y has been saying that, however, he's also not spoken to Drouin/agent yet and has also been taking calls on offers. I think he's saying that because he can't sign all 3, and Drouin and Cooper have bad karma, I think Droiun will be gone.
On the other hand, signing in FLA is no taxes...so he'd net more, like Stamkos did.
Currently hearing he wants 6M per, but might not be on an LTC. And although in the past, he's had his head not screwed on right, when he is focused, his talent it thru the roof. Vision, speed, skill, slick hands and wicked finish.
But I don't think the Kings have what TB wants , unless they add. I keep reading/hearing 'young , puck moving top D' not sure if Muzz qualifys, unless the Kings add to it. Minny, Preds, Carolina, Ducks among teams that do have that. Flyers have been trying for 2 yrs to get him.
I'm sure the Bolts have plenty of offers to eye up...if they decide to trade him.

Just want to remind people of that friedman 30 thoughts article and point out that toffoli and Tavares share an agent. LA was mentioned for a reason.

JT ? Can't see that, he's a 1C not a 2C and unless Kopi it going away, you can't have 20M spent on 2 ceners. If he does leave NY (and just read a couple articles thta the Isles owners/brass don't like the rumors and are going to 'do anything' it takes to keep him. That means getting him a top wing to start._) it won't be for the Kings. Or the Leafs, no money there either not with Matthews , marner and co getting big deals in the next 2 years.
Not sure where Friedman was going there.

His situation is just something to keep an eye on. I thought he could barely fit (and still have cap space for a doughty extension) before Pearson and toffoli signed. I thought they'd go for $9.5 combined - at least that's the estimate I used.

They are at $8.375 combined. Makes it more likely the kings could make it work if he ever became available. Friedman saw something to make him think this.

Then you could mention a few star players and countless others. Pat Brisson is one of the most powerful figures in all American sports not just NHL. He represents Crosby, Toews, Kopitar, Tavares, Patrick Kane, Auston Mathews, Duchene, Giroux, Bernier, Seth Jones, Okposo, Pacioretty and so on. Brisson always get what he wants one way or another. So Kopitar getting his fat contract is no suprise to me. Same will happen to DD, because Donald E. Meehan gets what he wants too.

but how many of those guys are major upcoming UFAs in light of the needs and cap space of the teams Friedman mentioned? Just the one. Friedman saw something.

I figure it's like the Kings doing their due diligence and being in on the Brad Richards sweepstakes after they had acquired Mike Richards.

I would think they're a long shot to land Tavares. I guess them potentially having interest in Thornton may have some merit, and is a fairly decent plan B that won't be as costly.

Friedman seemed to think it was more than that. But we'll wait and see.

The big task is done now that that 70s line is back. just have to sign the other RFAs then see what other cards fall into place. :)

Friedman thinks Galchenyuk will be traded. And his agent is Pat Brisson.:naughty:
