2017 Offseason Thread 5.0 Summer Doldrums

I'm not being literal when I say you can't say he's not a home run. The guy hasn't played an NHL game. Jared Aulin was a home run. Olli Jokinen was the next Esa Tikkanen. Aki Berg was a future physical force on the blue line. Thankfully with Kopitar and Carter the Kings have zero need to rush Vilardi, he will get his chance when he earns it and when he's healthy now which seems to be the real issue.

He was right about the info coming from Rosen though. Everything Gaborik was doing in the weeks leading to training camp didn't seem to indicate he wouldn't be ready to skate. Rosen was repeating what the organization was estimating to be the amount of time Gaborik would miss without having gotten any updates from Gaborik himself.

That does not make Instagram stalking is a more reliable source than LAKI. There are doctor reports and evaluations which are handed to the teams.

FFS, you're the same person who on multiple occasions bashed my old scouting reports based off of actually watching players practice/play. I got some hits, some misses. Does everyone owe me an apology for my faulty evaluation approach?
 
I'm saying that Rosen only reiterated what staff said Gaborik's timetable would be, which was outdated information from July when Gaborik had his minor procedure done. There was no new info that came from Rosen until today.

And he very much is a mouthpiece for the team. They cut his paycheck and employ him.

So from now on are you going to base your evaluations on Social media stalking?
 
I think we should put the arguing aside and just all agree that the time tables we hear from the Kings aren't absolute and even can be exaggerated. So take everything with a grain of salt.

That's great that scouting services said he fell because of skating. How long have we all been following hockey, let alone sports in general? You get a guy with two injuries during his draft year and then can't do all the combine work because of a 3rd injury and you think teams weren't concerned about it?

That's what I mean by logic. None of us know every single reason why anything in this league happens since we aren't a part of the scouting staffs of each NHL team. If I'm making assumptions because a scouting service didn't mention injuries, all of you are making assumptions that this information is gospel and is the entire story.

Good point. However, with our recent lack of first-round picks and our trading away of second-round prospects, we had to take a swing at the only first-line prospect we've sniffed in a while.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have taken him. I'm just much more concerned about what is happening with him at the moment than others.

Of course, if Doughty is gone, Vilardi doesn't need to contribute by 2019 anyways.
 
Even with the multiple injuries I still loved the pick.

The Kings didn't really have a 1st line/1st d-pair type in the system and to be able to get someone with that type of potential in a draft as weak as this one was pretty huge.

Yup, its a giant conspiracy. Rosen, Blake and Big Foot had a meeting on 6/12/2017, in order to create misinformation surrounding Gaborik's return. Unbeknownst to them, Gaborik was posting photos on Instagram, and the social media photo doctors on HFBoards quickly caught on to this conspiracy and revealed it for the hoax that it is!

Maybe this is too difficult for you to comprehend, but are you not understanding the fact that outdated information was being relayed concerning Gaborik?

Did Tikkanen not suggest that Gaborik will be ready by training camp? Seems like he'll be ready given that he's taken the ice already with the rest of his teammates.

Of course he can aggravate his chronic knee problem again at camp, but if it is likely for him to get into a preseason game (or games), which negates the outdated information that Gaborik wouldn't be ready to start the season.

The information being passed along was based on what management is saying per doctor evaluations. My comment was with respect to you and others claiming that simply because Gaborik was out in the sun playing with his girlfriend that you guys are some how social media doctors and can clearly rebut what management is passing along.

If you want to "speculate" that he may return earlier than anticipated based on photos, that's fine, have at it. It's a message board and people speculate all the time. Its when you go off calling others "mouthpieces for Rosen" simply because they are relying on whatever the recent report was from management that ruffles peoples feathers.
