I view Quick as the backbone of the team, without him, they're pretty much spineless.

I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this, but I gotta say it. I find it very strange for someone as hot tempered as Quick to have never dropped the gloves. All of his so called aggression has been with full gear on. A big part of me feels that he may act aggressive or be aggressive to get the team going, but i just feel that he embellishes his anger to get the team going. If he was that angry, and that aggressive, I fully expect him to have at least taken his gloves off or his helmet and just taken someone to town by now . I've seen a couple goalies try to challenge him already and he never accepted in those cases. I'm not calling him spineless or anything, Im just saying from my perspective, he might be stirring the pot to get the team going, not because he actually wants to pummel people.

No goalie has challenged Quick. The closest anything ever came to happening is when Crawford mouthed off to him at center ice between periods.

Are we really talking about Doughty dropping the gloves? Against Tkatchuk???

Cut it out

Four less points than Kopitar in the same amount of games at age 19 along with 105 PIMs.

Yeah, we are talking about that guy. The guy that elbowed him, *****ed him out in the media, fought McNabb and then still continued to take runs at him.

Also, we aren't saying he has to fight him, but he needs to stick up for himself somehow. This is in light of Doughty--a physical, 220+pound assistant captain--saying the team needs more leadership and grit.

No. Defending himself against Tkatchuk or anybody else who take a run at him. He chose to do nothing. And some of the posters here did not agree him skating away.
It didn't require 'dropping the gloves'. And for me, it showed a large hole where moxy, guts and leadership should be. And it's a part of what is missing/wrong with this current group. Hopefully, Stevens can do something to effect a change there.

I don't think Cammy or Folin are bringing that in.

I remember fans across the league giving Muzzin **** for not going with him. Like nahh you don't get to pick who you go with.

Keith Jones said he was embarrassed for him for not fighting that punk. Like, why should he or why should anyone have to ? Should Hossa had to fight Torres after getting a concussion from a dirty hit by him? Believe me, his day will come and Tkchuck will get his ass handed to him.

Are people really trying to make a case that players should never stand up for themselves? Wow. What happened

I've seen a few goalies skate out for quick and he stayed in his net. There's a good reason to believe his toughness is more so for rallying.

Some of his aggression is probably to keep the opposition out of his crease and allow him to make acrobatic saves. It draws the zebras attention to it first, rather than crying once a goal goes in.

Jones comes from a different era where a lot of guys knew how to fight. The days of a Mark Messier putting up a hall of fame career and also being able to fight when he had to are over. If I'm the Kings and Sutter at the time I DO NOT want Doughty dropping the gloves for fear of major injury. Clifford making 1.6 million needs to be stepping in whenever possible otherwise he is a bank robber. The Kings have toughness, they are paying Clifford, Andreoff and Nolan for it they either aren't delivering or were being told not to deliver by Sutter. With the way the Sutter Brothers played hockey I really don't understand why he would tell those type of players don't be fighting anybody, just goes against their way of play historically.

Why do people think Quick is tough? He only goes after an opposing forward when the ref is nearby, he's backed down from more than one goalie fight. He has a rep of being this feisty badass but there is zero evidence of that.

I love him as a goalie and I'm glad he's a chill dude, just not sure why people think he's some intense aggressive guy.

If those goalies are so tough, then explain why they haven't come across the center line to fight Quick?

Quick isn't afraid of mixing it up with anyone who gets in his crease, he's no Hextall, but he has a bit of Belfour in him.

I recall Quick confronting other goalies directly before. I seem to recall him rushing up to Crawford and yapping at him once (it may have been in the playoffs).

Yep, went after him after the period.

Where are these goalie fights he's backed down from?

He's no Hextall, but he's sure a fiery *******. But it's at players in his crease most often. If we ever had a line brawl, which is soooo freaking rare for this team, and a goalie dared to cross the redline, do we really think quick would back down?

I remember Quick once said in an interview that goalie fights are embarrassing and should not happen. He said with all the equipment on, its is silly for two goalies to go at it. That said, I think Quick would throw it down if the opposing goalie crossed the center ice or if there was a line brawl.

Sorry boys but Doughty has earned the right to skate away. Is Erik Karlsson fighting anyone? No.

It was up to Clifford, Andreoff, or Nolan. None of them did anything.

40 year old Iginla had to step in and fight Engelland. Sad. Iggy showed more balls in 10-15 games with the Kings than this team showed all year.

Even sadder, and someone mentioned it earlier, was in that meaningless game at the end of year when the Kings played the Flames NO ONE did anything to Tkachuk. I know only Andreoff played in that game. I would be making Tkachuk pay every game until his career his over.

The value of having a guy like Lucic was overlooked this year. The duo of Nolan and Clifford seems to never get it done. Lombardi previously brought in Carcillo a few years back. He showed some balls in that Vancouver game when Kassian leveled Stoll and Sestito went after Doughty - Carcillo was the only one going crazy. It seems when the Kings bring in a third guy like Lucic or Carcillo, then Clifford and Nolan decide to wake up knowing their job is on the line.
