Ehhhh,

The 2016 pickups are fun to laugh at just how bad they were, but long term there wasn't much damage done. Blake's hands are tied just as Dean's were last year because of what happened in 2014 and 2015.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Worse case he sucks and kings don't sign him. Bets case he forces his way onto the team. Likely case he forces other players to compete and earn their spots.

Hey there is going to be a lot of competition come training camp for spots. For that bottom 6 i see Dowd, Kempe, Nolan, Cliffy, Lewis, Auger, Mersch, Brodzinski, Lokitonov(PTO), Cammy(Kinda think he already has a lock), Gabby, Brown(think he has a lock in top 6). Then for defense i see Gravel, LaDue(think he is a lock for the top 4), Folin, MacDermid & Fantenberg. Then even for goalie there is going to be a fight for that second spot between Zatkoff, Kuemper and Campbell. So training camp is going to be a fun one to watch this year. I am excited about it.

Should Blake have spent all of his resources on a Marleau or Thornton and handcuffed himself with another regrerable contract? I don't get the whining; what solution are you offering?

I'm going to guess it's a combination of the last 3 years, hopelessness for the future, and that he's a former Kings prospect that has already been traded. Win, and everything is cool. Lose, and every detail is picked apart.

Blake has no clue what he's doing. This team could use a power forward like Matt Zultek on Kopitar's left wing.

Not that too many teams have run into this problem, but there is a CBA rule which mandates that a minimum of 8 NHL veterans have to dress in each preseason game. Loktionov counts as a veteran since he's played more than 100 games.

We know the Kings are going to have a split squad with the China games while also having a game in Anaheim on 9/23.

Teams typically aren't going to make their core guys play in every preseason game either, so sometimes it's nice to have the PTO guys around just to be a proverbial warm body.

With our cap space I would hope they take a chance on Vanek. He has nEver scored less than 40 points his entire career. He is a net front monster and would only help us. Sign him to a 2 year contract if his demands are not crazy
