I get it but it's just funny to me. This board is bi-polar and 90% of y'all have split personality disorder
Because adding productive players without giving up any assets is a bad thing?

What do you think we could get for Carter at the deadline now that all the kids are asking for Kopi money??
Greetings. Are you guys looking for more offense this offseason? Is Muzzin for a scoring winger something you guys would entertain?
10 million in cap space , move a very replaceable player in Clifford and all the cap hits and numbers work . If Marleau and Thornton come as a package deal together so they can win together maybe sign for 4 million each. You can get Shore , Brodzinski, Gravel, Ladue signed for less than 3.7 million. Shore will get 850-925,000 Brodzinski 850 , Ladue and Gravel for 850. That's 3.4 million. Roll with the deepest lineup we will have in along time and you don't have to move any defenseman and keep it our strength.

This would be the dream off-season. And Blake would win over many early in his time at the top.
Holy moly, now that's a team. A perfect balance of young kids and veteran leadership.

The thing with Carter and his age is he could buck the trend and be a Marleau type that is worth his cap hit even at age 35 and beyond.
What could they get for him at this year's deadline? Would he get a Jack Johnson type defenseman and a first round pick like in 2012? That might be a tall order considering his age. I think a first round pick would definitely be included but don't know if you get an NHL player back or if it is a prospect.
If they get Thornton and all the best players are playing their best, they aren't trading Carter at the deadline. They'd be buyers and not sellers.

Kessel has shown that good players who are brought in as a supplemental role can provide a lot to the team. I'd take Thornton at the right price.
If it's for his same salary, then no, that would be terrible.

Thornton isn't playing on the 3rd line. If that's the deal with him signing here then he will sign somewhere else. Either Carter will move to wing or Joe will move to wing but he will be in the top 6. For any of you that don't play or have never played hockey ice time is important, playing 14 minutes a night compared to 20 minutes a night is a big deal. Thornton was at 18:04 last season at ES and 3:20 on the PP so if you cut his ice time drastically you will cut his offense. The last 5 seasons he has been in the 18 minute range so that would be where he wants to be and you don't get that on the 3d line.
I agree with you, but when the Kings were rolling, i.e. 2014, The top 3 centers total TOI were as follows:
Kopitar: 21:13
Carter: 18:16
Stoll: 17:03
With Sutter out, hopefully Stevens doesn't kill Kopi with too much ice time. I see Joe getting about 18 minutes, regardless of which line he plays on. He's a good special teams player as well, so I don't see TOI being a problem. That being said, you can't just partner him with stiffs, either.
IMO, Carter has earned first line wing duties. His speed on the wing is an asset the Kings haven't had on line 1 in awhile. And if you can convince Brown to play hockey like he used to and not "save himself for the playoffs" you would have the perfect top line of a sniper in Carter, a defensively responsible playmaker in Kopitar and a power forward in Brown. Again, Pearson-Thornton-Toffoli would be an amazing 2nd line and I'd like to see Brodz-Kempe-Gaborik on the 3rd but I don't want to get greedy.
Kopitar and Carter are both puckhogs and both want to carry the puck through the neutral zone. Don't see them working well together.

Gave you Kings interest in Thornton first on Sunday, here's another nugget. LA among the teams who have contacted Justin Williams camp
What are we the Blackhawks?
Well, we already stole one player from the Hawks!
