2017 Offseason Thread 4.0 - Free Agent Frenzy Time

I don't know what you guys wanted Blake to do? It sounded like he was in the mix for high profiled players, he got some good depth pieces. No need to cap strap the team in a UFA market. Be patient fellas, Blake has been doing a good job fixing the messes made by DL. he's going in the right direction.

Hoven's credibility is gone.

Never had it in the first place.

And remeber this day sports fans... Looks like Thornton is signing a 1 year deal. Kings can't even lure a UFA from another team in the same state away from a one year deal. Good UFAs just don't come here, period.

It's because they are "win now" and we are looking at a slight variation of the same team that hasn't done **** for three seasons.

The prospect stuff has been great but we look just like last season: studs have to stud and rookies/youth have to be good with at least one of them being great.

Also doesn't feel good looking around at the rest of the division.
 
It looks like we are overloaded on D. I wonder if Blake signed Folin because he wants to trade Muzzin/Martinez/Gravel for a forward?
 
So I can see the plan , cammy plays while gabby's out then he should last till gabby's back then when he gets injured can come back in when gabby gets hurt again , sort of like platooning in baseball ,

The Kings are selling the "win now" thing with at best a 3rd place, but more likely 5th place team in the Pacific Division.

Probably around $6-7 million but for only 1 year it's a great deal either way. I never thought he was coming to the Kings. Always was using them as leverage. Kind of surprised he could only turn that into 1 year though.

I agree with the current team being the relatively the same, but let's hold out hope that we make a good trade for a good forward. DL and Sutter got fired for lack of offense, I don't think Blake will sit on his hands.

Even then our players are actually pretty talented, so If the system is changing to an offensive style, who knows how much that will improve our team.

I'm being hopeful, but there are things to consider. If this was Sutter and DLs team I'd agree with you completely.

Yeah, Blake was right there. He was all over Joe Thornton. One year? Thornton never seriously considered the Kings.

Word is the salary is going to be north of 6 million. I'd be pissed if the kings matched that on multiple years to be honest. And hoven can **** off, lost all credibility.
 
Hoven blocked me because I said this and got likes for it..

It is DL's team, basically.

This roster has lost the benefit of the doubt. Going to be hard to be optimistic without the addition of offense to what is already here.
 
He said the Kings were going hard after Jumbo and were high up on his list. Sounds like the Sharks upped their offer $-wise with the Kings closing in. Hoven didn't make the Sharks GM pinky-swear he'd let the Kings have Joe without a fight.

This is pro sports. There are no sure things until the ink dries on the contract.

It would be like when the yanks signed Clemens anyway , great player a few years past their prime that would always feel a little "dirty" having him on the team ,screw him ,it will make watching him get eliminated more enjoyable, he was never leaving if he took a 1 year deal to stay, there were other better teams than us in too, don't think this shoulde blamed on ufa's coming here, but I understand the point
 
Okay, Thornton is back in SJ.

But I'd still take Marleau if he accepts something like 2 years and 5M max

Not necessarily, he implied directly that Thornton was going to be a King come Saturday. He could have easily said that the Kings were pushing for thornton instead of making sensationalist claims.. People like that have difficulty sustaining credibility.. He conflates his opinion and fact.
 
Everyone's heart is crushed because we will miss the playoffs again if Gaborik or Cammh continue their play from last year, and Kopitar doesn't take over which is sad to put hopes on all these things to go right. But something's got to give .

Andreoff,Nolan,Brodzinski

Muzzin-Ladue

Macdermid is not waiver exempt anymore along with few other forwards . Brodzinski needs to play but where ? Andreoff can be the extra forward but what about Nolan ,Brodz in for Cliffy ? And Gravel or Folin or Macdermid will be lost but all indications are Gravel and Folin both can handle 5-6 duties and are underrated so a trade is likely but probably something small.

Well the question is, do you think our team on an individual basis is talented? If so, wouldn't it make sense that if they play more of an offensive game rather than a generic throw it in style, that they'd actually be more successful?

Those offensive lines will not make the playoffs , I never worry about defense but the 3C is a big hole and a scoring winger to play in top 6.
