Kings will have roughly $4-5 million after signing their RFA's and a backup goalie. Blake won't go into the season with that much cap space.

I think you are overvaluing Andreoff, Shore and Gravel. The three combined won't cost $3M.

They might spend a bit over $1M on a backup, and I think combined they'll spend less than $5M on those three plus a backup.

Which'll leave the team with close to $6M to make upgrades. And that's if there is no salary going out.

With the lineup the Mayor provides, I doubt we make the playoffs. Essentially, everything would have to go perfect for us to squeeze in, i.e., Quick healthy; Doughty with Norris year; Kopitar having a major bounce back year (70+pts), Gaborik coming back healthy and netting 15-20 goals; Toffoli being a 30 goal scorer; Pearson matching last year's numbers; and Carter being Carter.

How many teams make the playoffs when multiple big name, big money players don't produce? If Quick being healthy, Doughty playing at an all world level, Kopitar having a good season, Pearson being a .5 point per game player, Toffoli being a goal scorer, and Carter being Carter are parts of perfection, then the word expectation has no meaning anymore.

If all of that happens, and the Kings aren't deep in the mix for a top 3 spot in the Pacific, then the Pacific should be amazing.

Just sit on the 6 million. Sell at the deadline.

This organization has to start rebuilding the pipeline.

Let me amend your commentary.....

Sit on the $6 miilion, the FO will have more than enough time by the trade deadline to evaluate how the team responds to a new environment and if progress is not made then ship off players near or over 30YO...

Carter, Muzzin, Martinez, Lewis, Brown(if possible), Gaborik(if possible), Dowd... Strongly consider moving DD while AK, TT, TP, JQ are likely to remain for various reasons...

King won't even be in the NHL in the next 2 years. Shows how much the Kings depth sucks.
Clifford,Andreoff gotta go too. I think Blake bringing in Imama might make that a reality

King was just misused because Sutter played him in the top 6. I wouldn't mind having him back for $1 million/yr. Two years ago, the line of King-Lewis-Brown was on fire until they got split up. That would make a great fourth line on the Kings. I wouldn't mind getting rid of AA, Clifford and Nolan. They have been the worst.

I don't want King taking up a roster spot. We have enough of those in the way already.

$6 million in cap space to either sign an aging winger who had a breakout season at what 30YO, add depth with vets like Versteeg, Bonino and/or Vanek or sacrifice a Muzzin/Martinez for 1 season of Evander Kane... Have i pretty much covered all the bases???

Brown - Kopitar - Oshie
Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
Kempe - Dowd - Brodzinski
Clifford - Lewis - Nolan
Gaborik- LTIR

Forbort - Doughty
Muzzin - LaDue
Martinez - Gravel
MacDermid or Fantenberg

Quick
Campbell

Vanek - Kopitar - Toffoli
Pearson - Carter - Brown
Versteeg - Kempe - Brodzinski
Lewis - Dowd - Nolan
Gaborik-LTIR, Clifford-AHL

Defense same as above...

Kane - Kopitar - Toffoli
Pearson - Carter - Brown
Kempe - Bonino - Brodzinski
Versteeg - Dowd - Lewis
Gaborik -LTIR, Clifford-AHL, Nolan-Traded

Forbort - Doughty
Muzzin - LaDue
Fantenberg - Gravel
MacDermid
Defense looks shaky

Quick
Campbell

and Finally....

Vanek - Kopitar - Toffoli
Pearson - Carter - Brown
Kempe - Bonino - Brodzinski
Versteeg - Lewis - Nolan
Gaborik-LTIR, Clifford-AHL, Dowd-traded

Forbort - Doughty
Muzzin - LaDue

King is to slow to keep up with the new pace of the NHL, he also can't score he was lucky. We need more skill in our bottom 6 we have to many benders like King already

Math does not compute...

I don't think Oshie is a good option. He shot 23.1% which is just about double his career % of 11.8%. He's going to regress... a lot I think.

Our bottom 6 isn't worth upgrading with the cap space we have. Our bottom 6 was not the problem last year.

Not having a 3C was not only a problem but a huge one. It should be the number one problem to solve...hands down.

Our bottom 6 is actually one of the weakest in the league and one of the main reasons why we haven't been successful the last 3 seasons. If you take a look around the league teams have been relying and playing their bottom 6 more . They've added speed and skill throughout all lines .

This is a myth that has been debunked several times.

Trever Lewis alone was one of the best Bottom six players in the league last year, along with Brown(Production wise at ES).

The Bottom six is a reason the Kings are not picking Top Five in the draft this year.

fudge... who is an above average 4th line caliber penalty killer that we could sign???

There isn't really much out there but I wouldn't mind one of Thornton or Bonino for cheap to play in our bottom 6. They would bring much needed offense on our lower lines . Also Brian Boyle can play defense and kill penalties if we can get him for cheap to play on the 4th line that would be delightful.

If we go

Kempe-Thornton-Brown/Gaborik
Lewis-Boyle-Shore

We would be a much better team having Shore and Lewis defensive game and somewhat offense on our 4th line. Literally having 1 player as good as Thornton on our bottom 6 makes us much better . If we can get Thornton and Boyle for cheap I hope Blakey goes for it .
